Give Friends and Family Something to Hold
The world over, we were all separated from our friends and family for a time, and we had to rely on technology to keep in touch. People, however, got a bit tired of their devices, and many found ways to avoid technology - at least as much as possible. In order to keep in touch with the people I love, I returned to a habit I hadn't nurtured in some time - sending letters, cards, and postcards on bespoke stationary.
I started painting again, and I started mailing my hand-painted watercolor cards and postcards to family and friends to give them something to hold, a tangible artifact to make them smile and let them know I was thinking of them. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep up with the demand for originals! Everyone loves getting mail!
Selling prints of my originals, however, has allowed me to send a LOT more cards and postcards and to reopen my Etsy Shop with new products, including a variety of stationary and gift products featuring my watercolor art prints.
In addition to how much I love sending and receiving letters, cards, and postcards, I'm inspired by the "water" part of watercolor. I love the water itself - from puddles and ponds to lakes and oceans - and once in a while I collect a sample and use that water to make more original artwork. When I am painting scenes from Lake Huron with water from Lake Huron, it feels magical.
As I gain confidence as a painter, I'm beginning to paint larger originals, allowing me to apply prints to more and more products. If there's a particular print you love, and you know you want it on a particular product type, I'm happy to see if it will work for you - just send a message.
