Gypsy Upcycle började som ett hållbarhetsprojekt för mor och dotter för ett samhällskunskapsprojekt i sjätte klass. Med ett par gamla jeansshorts som inte längre passade lärde mamma dottern hur man gör en väska av shortsen på samma sätt som mormor hade lärt henne på 70-talet.
Som en familj som alltid har omfamnat ansvarsfullt liv, återvinning, hållbarhet och mindfulness tog vi nästa steg. Vad mer kunde omformas och återanvändas? Med påsar med trasiga smycken, rester av vintagespets, linnetyger, läder började en liten kollektion av zigenar-chica accessoarer och jackor ta form. Fokus ligger på att ta vintagesmycken och få dem att se moderna och relevanta ut igen, eller att blåsa nytt liv i det som anses vara oanvändbart längre.
Gypsy Upcycle är en hyllning till att skapa något ur ingenting. Nästan alla föremål är unika, handgjorda och avsedda att bäras med djärvhet. Stöd kreativ hållbarhet och sprid budskapet. Länge leve jorden!
Gypsy Upcycle started as a mother and daughter sustainability project for a 6th grade social studies project. With an old pair of denim shorts that no longer fit, mom taught daughter how to make a purse out of the shorts the way grandmother had taught mom back in the 70s.
As a family who has always embraced responsible living, recycling, sustainability, and mindfulness, we took the next step. What else could be reimagined and repurposed? With bags of broken jewelry, scraps of vintage lace, linens, leather, a small collection of gypsy-chic accessories and jackets began to take shape. The focus is taking vintage pieces of jewelry and making them look modern and relevant again or breathing new life into what is considered no longer useful.
Gypsy Upcycle is a celebration of making something out of nothing. Almost all the items are one of a kind, handcrafted and meant to be worn boldly. Support creative sustainability and spread the word. Long live the Earth!
