About

Made in Nepal - Made to Change!

In August 2014 two excited Swedes left their home to start a new adventure in Nepal. David & Charlotte packed their bags & moved to Kathmandu to work as teachers & to launch the work of their organization HATTIHATTI.

When in Nepal they saw the need of empowering women through education & work. Therefore HATTIHATTI launched the idea to create & educate through a re-make project. We employ women who come from social & economic marginalized communities as tailors. We teach our tailors how to become entrepreneurs through weekly education classes & monthly creative classes. At educational class our tailors get a mix of english, math & business management & economy. At creative class our tailors get to create whatever product they think can be sold in their business. It can be anything. The idea is to be creative! Along with these classes our tailors work with re-making the traditional dress "Saari" into beautiful bow ties, handkerchiefs & kimonos which we sell here at Etsy. Our tailors are economically supported by sponsors every month. A part from their monthly education allowance, our tailors get 30 percent into a saving account from each sold item which they can later access once they start their own business.

All of this for the vision that one day our fantastic women will know how to start & maintain their very own business!

Charlotte & David sadly had to leave Nepal to go back to Sweden. However, the work continues from Sweden & Nepal. HATTIHATTI & it's purpose is still up and running. More & more people are getting involved in what we do and want to support us which is overwhelmingly great . We would like to thank you for acknowledging us & our work in Nepal!
