About HAWKHOUSE
Wild woman falls in love with island boy and signs up for ETSY!
Jessica Kramer hails from Lincoln, Nebraska and is a self taught mixed metal artist.
Since leaving the land of Lincoln, she has traveled 6 of the 7 continents of the world and gathered gems, minerals and inspiration throughout her travels.
She lived in the Bay area in California for nearly 5 years working in metal fabrication and blacksmithing. She also worked in Event Production with the awe inspiring company Obscura Digital.
She left California in 2012. Driving her cat and belongings to Martha’s Vineyard to waitress during the tourist filled summer season, she met the love of her life. She has rarely left the island and his side since.
HAWKHOUSE emerged as a creative outlet for Jessica to channel all of her artistic musings in the slow and frigid winter months on the island. Her inspirations come from nature and science and her work reflects this.

How will copper affect my skin?
Our rings are untreated and unsealed to further the positive effects that copper can have on the body! The copper brightens with each wear thanks to the body's natural oils.
Copper reacts differently to every body's chemistry. If you find that wearing our rings turn you green, it is a sign that you have an acidic pH. Science suggests the following ways to combat a high acidic pH: increase water intake (extra points with squeezed lemon!), increase dark fruit and veggie intake, and decrease processed starches and sugars.
Any greening washes off easily with soap and water. You can seal the rings with jewelers wax/lacquer or even clear nail polish if you wish.
I am unsure of my ring size. Can you help me determine it?

Can I choose the stone or ring/necklace you are sending me?
After purchase we can photograph options of pieces for you. For many reasons, we do not photograph stones before they are set.
Photo options may take around a week, as we only have some pieces in stock.
We want to make sure you love your piece and we will happily work with you in order to do so!
I love the ring you sent, but it doesn't fit! Can you resize or reset it?
Short answer, no.
Long answer, still no, but here's why: Electroforming is a multi-step process by which copper is grown around the stone in a 6-12 hour chemical bath. This creates the setting. By removing the stone from the setting (i.e. breaking a ring) and attempting to reset it, we not only have to completely remake the ring, but also risk damaging the stone.
We happily work out exchanges for a different ring instead, as the ring that doesn't fit you would fit someone else!
How long does shipping take?
It may take up to two weeks to handcraft and ship your piece if it is not in stock.
We ship USPS First Class, Priority, or Priority Express for US orders and First Class & Priority for international orders. Please see our FAQ about international orders for more detail.
**If you choose expedited shipping, your piece will NOT be made faster, IT WILL JUST MOVE FASTER THROUGH THE MAIL ONCE SHIPPED.**
We live on an island which can add an extra day or two to shipping!

Can you make something custom for me?
We accept *some* custom orders, predominately necklaces. We do not work with stones supplied to us by customers at this time.
We DO NOT accept exchanges or refunds on custom orders.

Choose "custom" for your size and leave a note at checkout with your needs. We are now taking custom orders on our silver and gold rings!
What's the difference between some of your necklaces that use the same stones?
We offer many of our necklaces on different chains and at different lengths, so if you see what looks like the same pendant with 4 different prices, here's how it works: The more expensive necklaces have either larger stones, or sterling silver chains, or both. The less expensive necklaces have either smaller stones, or copper chains, or both. Sterling silver is a pricier material than copper.
How are international orders handled?
We are not responsible for customs or VAT fees. These fees are determined by YOUR home country at the time of the arrival of your package and are impossible to predict. We are required by law to accurately describe all contents of your order on the shipping label (we cannot mark purchases as gifts), so please be aware of the fact that you may incur further fees to claim your order
Please know that because we offer upgraded shipping, ONLY Priority International Mail will be insured. This means if you choose First Class International shipping, AND in the rare chance your package is lost in transit, we are NOT able to reship an item to you. Please, do reach out with any questions you may have so we can resolve the issue as best as possible.
