Announcement    *********** FREE SHIPPING ON MOST PIECES to"the Lower 48" ********

ALL of our pieces are handmade - usually on a pottery wheel. We usually use numerous custom sculpture tools, as well as custom formulated glazes and decorating colors. We use nine different types of clay - stonewares, porcelain, Raku, red ware, "marbled clay," and a few "custom alloys" involving stained glass, 22k gold, and pure silver...

This unique array of ceramic works is a testament to the time and thought processes of the skilled crafts people that create ceramic pieces in this little company (that was the "ART SPEAK" line that all of these artsy crafty sites seem to have).

The "dollhouse miniatures" are mostly one inch scale (1" = 12"). The miniature pieces are collected by dollhouse "builders", Fairy Garden folks, and miniature collectors. Other people have TINY VERSIONS OF OUR "REGULAR SIZED PIECES- where an ENTIRE COLLECTION FITS IN A DESKTOP DISPLAY.
Another effective and POPULAR DISPLAY IDEA is the use of an antique or vintage PRINTER"S DRAWER. In this scenario, your "tiny treasures" fill the individual spaces and the whole unit mounts on the wall.
The pots are fairly decorative in nature, and made with the premise of "miniature believability"- which translates to VERY THIN POTS...VERY thin (think 1/32nd of an inch...or even 1/64th of an inch ! ).

Our "FULL SIZE" POTTERY also covers a wide range of styles, colors, and influences. We make mugs, jugs, bowls, vases, cookie jars, face pots, whimsical , hand-sculpted BIRD BANKS, and a multitude of other pieces...lots of FACE POTS.
The pots are often hand painted with nature based "serene scenes" with trees, cattails, etc. Others are sculpted in some manner after they come off the potter's wheel - "altered thrown pottery". ( We enjoy the creativity that clay allows.)
We also pay homage to TRADITIONAL, TIME-HONORED POTTERY STYLES. Our main areas of "traditional" interest are RED WARE and cobalt blue FOLK ART embellished pots. Those areas on their own could be a lifetime of study...

We also have a group of wearable ceramic ( JEWELRY ! ) pieces such as unique BOLO TIES, face pins, necklaces, earrings, and perfume bottle necklaces (potion pots)....................

There are lots of philosophical "links" and technical attributes to mention...but...really...more to say some other day...

About HairyPottersPottery

On Etsy since 2013

truly collectible one of a kind MINIATURE & FULL-SIZE POTTERY, "jewelry", & FOLK ART

A number of artisans create the pieces featured in this shop. There are "folk art oriented" RED WARE pieces, which include sgrafitto and slip-trailed works , as well as "UGLY JUGS" and simple, utilitarian pots. We also feature a number of RED WARE POTION POTS - which are akin to wearable necklace "medicine bottles" of many cultures. These are offered in both simple and decorative examples. The red ware is offered in both full-size and miniature versions.
Our STONEWARE, PORCELAIN, and RAKU pieces are also featured in "both sizes". These pieces have a vast range in price, color, appeal, and "complexity". There are simple utilitarian bowls and plates, as well as ornately sculpted and colorful bird banks....more to come......need to go make some things........

I've been making, sculpting, decorating, and miniaturizing pottery for a long time. The magical possibilities of clay keep it fascinating. From "rustic" to "elegant" - the potter can be a sort of "mild scientist". Son Lyrik (age 14) keeps us young.
