About HaitianSisalCrafts
Buy something beautiful and help create jobs for the poorest of the poor.
This shop was born out of a desire to help Haiti's people find jobs. In 2015 my church and I helped a group of Haitians start a sisal cooperative. 100% of this shop's revenue is returned to the cooperative in Haiti.
What is sisal? It is a fiber stripped from a drought-tolerant plant that grows easily in Haiti. It is used to make rope, make baskets and other woven crafts, weave rugs and carpets, and even reinforce plastics and concrete. We are helping people help themselves.

Owner
My wife and I lived and worked in Haiti in the 80's. After the 2010 earthquake, I returned to Haiti to help with relief efforts and saw the tremendous need for jobs. I helped start a sisal cooperative. This shop is an outlet for their products.
