First I would like to thank the loyal customers who have supported my first and still active Etsy shop “Flower and Pearl Studio”—https://www.etsy.com/shop/FlowerandPearlStudio?ref=hdr_shop_menu. I have been on Etsy Since 2010 and it is you my customers who have been consistent in giving positive feedback, who have helped to sustain my business, and have given me the excellent review history that I enjoy.
I have found that I have a passion for carving and patterns. I started carving clay with a knife or loop as an alternative to trimming pieces on the wheel. It takes more time to finish my work this way, but I find it so much more calming and fulfilling. I am typical of a highly creative person whose hands have to be busy all the time and doodling on paper or in clay is the perfect outlet for this energy. I have a passion for carving and creating unique patterns. I love to come to a blank, leather hard clay object to create an original piece as it evolves into something unique. I may start by painting circles or lines on a piece then come back around and carve circles or lines inside those patterns. In this way every piece is different. Each one is faceted, painted with glazes, or carved or all three. This method opens an endless number of possibilities for original art.
I do all of my own work—the making, throwing, faceting, carving, selling, photographing, kiln loading, firing, and more. I fire my pieces at the pottery studio where I work.
I have a beautiful calico cat named Maybelline who hangs out with me when I am working at home. When weather permits we move my studio outside.
Because most of my work can be loosely separated into two different styles I am introducing this new shop “Hamlin Gallery” to promote my hand-built and wheel-thrown pieces that do not feature animals on them.
Thank you for checking out my new shop— https://www.etsy.com/shop/HamlinGallery . Please continue to visit https://www.etsy.com/shop/FlowerandPearlStudio
I do thank you and sincerely appreciate you my customers.
