My Little Piece of Heaven - Then, Now, and What the Future Holds...

Ever since I was little, I've always had a love for putting colours and materials together in order to make pretty decorations and presents for me, my friends and family. It all started with my mother, who is a very talented person when it comes to making things, and I can always remember admiring her handmade clocks, cushions, reupholstered chairs and anything else she could get her hands on and have time to make. She also had a fantastic collection of fabrics, all manner of haberdashery and a variety of other bits and bobs, and as a small child, I'd often amuse myself looking through them and thinking of pretty things to make.

Then, when I was 15, I decided to cut off the collars of my old white school shirts and sew on ribbons and lace to make a cute little accessory that I'd wear with jumpers or any other outfit it would go with to add a unique vintage twist. I'd thought of going to craft fairs and selling them as my mother had used to do, but being fairly young and at secondary school at this point, I didn't have enough time to do this and as I didn't know of any other way I could sell them, I contented myself with making them for my own pleasure and creating other bits and bobs here and there. That was until my older sister, Philippa, saw a photo of one of my collars that I had posted in Instagram. She was studying fashion and textile management at uni at the time and had heard of Etsy and so she suggested I open my own shop on here! I jumped at the chance to have a shop I could call my own and the rest, they say, is history!

This brings us to the present moment, and as always, I have so many ideas buzzing around my head for the next craft project to occupy me. However, I am currently at university studying English Literature which means I don't have anywhere near as much free time as I'd like to spend on making things for my shop and so this is a bit of a sideline at the moment. However, I hope to become a free lance photographer when I'm older and so maybe one day this will allow me to spend a lot more time on my Etsy shop, maybe even open my own shop for real in a town or village somewhere and possibly move on to greater things! And yet, I feel I'm getting a little ahead of myself there, and so in the meantime, I'm perfectly happy having my little Etsy shop and I feel it's such a great outlet for my creativity, a starting point for things to come which has massively opened up so many opportunities for me!

I hope you've enjoyed reading my story so far and I look forward to sharing many more chapters with you as I venture through life!

Lots of love and handmade kisses,

Sarah Bryant <3
