About Hanger3
It started with a dream. Literally.
The name Hanger3 came from an actual dream I had. I was walking around a clothing store that was themed like an old WWII Airplane Hangar. That next day, I purchased the domain name Hanger3.com. Hangar + any number was pretty much taken. And also, I forgot the correct spelling of Hangar.
At that time, I didn't have any product to sell, but I started down the path to figuring it out. Originally I wanted to do t-shirts, but everyone was doing them, and to get noticed would have been a chore. Then I'd seen a TV show where the lead character was wearing a small key around his neck and figured that cool, what else could people wear around their neck?
It didn't take me long to stumble onto tokens. I think I came across one the very next day. Soon got my hands on several and began to figure out the best materials to use and how to mount them. My first batch was 20 DC's on a leather necklace. Right off the bat, I sold them all by word of mouth and just a Paypal account.
It took me a month to build the first website. And once I pushed it live, almost in an afternoon it exploded. I had 20 orders in the first few hours. I was soon contacted by Real Simple Magazine and Urban Outfitters. I was shown on Uncrate.com and left as the very top product on the homepage over the weekend (they don't or didn't post new stuff on weekends). So I was flooded with orders, and countless other blogs were now showing my necklaces on their sites.
Hanger3.com's orders were staying strong for a few years. But then sites like this one (Etsy), started to take away my business with many copying or doing their own thing. These past few years I've barely had any sales. But now I'm coming back. Making another push and creating new products.
