My studio has overheated so I'm making up letter writing sets in the garden on the picnic bench instead.

About

Hello! Nice to meet you!

I'm lucky enough to live in the beautiful Scottish Borders. I work from a log cabin in the garden of our little cottage on Teapot Street in the village of Morebattle. Luckily the sparrows and blackbirds don't seem to mind sharing the garden with me.

I've been exploring the Borders countryside since I was a little girl, collecting pebbles and caterpillars and toads and feathers, and bringing them home to draw.

My weapon of choice is my pencil and using it I explore the hedgerows, fields and woodland aorund the village. I aim for my drawings to be delicate and calm, carefully observed and filled with character. I then use these drawings to create countryside stationery.

I'm a self-taught artist with a degree in Divinity. I've been selling my work full-time for almost five years. It's a wonderful way to earn a living. I was horribly under-qualified and without much of a plan when I quit my job in 2011 and moved back to the Borders to start a creative business. All I knew was that I wanted to make and sell lovely things. Five years later, I have developed a business which combines three of my favourite things: pencil drawings, the countryside, and beautiful paper goods.

I'm Hannah Longmuir. I've been drawing since I was a little girl, and doing it as my job for almost five years (lucky me!). I live in the countryside in the Scottish Borders with my boyfriend, Ross, and our soft black dog, Buddy Bear.
