About

Pretty rocks and shiny metal

Jason took an interest in minerals and geology when he first started dating Beth. She had a not-so-modest mineral collection from her Dad displayed in her apartment.

As a life long science geek with an extensive background in applied engineering jobs like nuclear propulsion for the Navy, machine and building maintenance, and other much more boring but similar jobs it was an instant draw.

From there it became a mutual area of recreational study. Some rockhounding, some collecting at shows, membership in a rock club, etc.

That grew into an interest of cutting stones and the behavior and science behind formulating and manipulating metals.

Beth is a lifelong beader and rockhound. She enjoys beading with just about any media, but gemstones are her favorite.

Together, it was a natural progression to find lapidary and jewelry making. Since they are both students of art as well, it was inevitable to find themselves here, as online jewelry artists.

Here, in this shop, you will find that art. They make this jewelry to satisfy that urge to explore and share the natural world, the science, the geology, the metallurgy, and perceptions of how all those intertwine.

Jason came into jewelry through a fascination with stones and geology. What started as a mineral collection, became stone cutting, became an interest in metals, and finally design.

Hello, and welcome! Thank you for visiting our shop, and taking the time to view our jewelry and cabochons.

Beth and I have a very simple outlook on this shop. We love to make jewelry and cut stones. We'd like to keep each and every piece we make, but to do so would be unrealistic. So that leads us to selling our work.

As long as we're going to do so, we want you to treasure our work as we do. For us, an integral part of that is making the "business" part of the transaction as smooth and seamless as possible. If you're unhappy with us, you'll likely be unhappy with the pieces you bought. That's no fun, so lets avoid that.

However, we do have to treat this as a business so please read the following policies. They are in place to protect all of us.

- Jason and Beth

Payment
Our accepted method of payments are Paypal and Etsy's Direct Checkout. You can use a credit card with either method.

For custom orders (not made to order, but something completely custom) we require a 50% deposit to order materials and cover time before we start to construct your item. The balance is due with shipping before the item is sent. Once work starts, the deposit is non-refundable.

Washingtion State residents: As we all know from our travels within the state, the new method for sales tax collection is destination based. That means that I have to charge a different rate depending on where you live. Etsy has started a new tax collection tool that overrides my Paypal settings. The new tool is incomplete, and will only allow me to charge one rate. I have it set for the maximum rate in the state (9.5%). If you are in an area where the rate is less, I will refund the over charge. In some states this is not legal, however the WA.gov site has a provision that does allow it for WA.

Items damaged in shipping will be partially or fully refunded on a case-by-case basis, depending on the extent and if it is shipped back. Please contact us with any issues. We do want to provide the best customer service possible.

Refunds on custom made (not made to order, but completely custom) will be considered case by case, but are generally not given unless there is a defect in our workmanship or the item was damaged in transit.
Additional policies and FAQs
Each work you see in this shop was made by Beth and I. Some components may be purchased, the metal is milled into sheet or wire for us, etc. But it's our hands that manipulate and form. We're glad you appreciate our art, and all other work done by artists and craftspersons. Thank you for supporting small businesses and our dream.
