Announcement   I use salvaged wood and reclaimed objects to create handcrafted treasures for home decor and storage solutions. My original photography and my husband's original paintings are sometimes incorporated into the designs. I love how these treasures can tell a story, preserve a memory, or make life just a bit easier through creative organization.

Custom Orders are always welcome at Hartley Rowe. I love working one on one with my customers and helping them find the perfect item for their home. I welcome your ideas for a design or the use of your own photography to create your special item. Please send me a message if you're interested in starting a Custom Order Request.

About

Creating Treasures Inspired by Loving Memories

I decided to open my Etsy shop , Hartley Rowe, at the encouragement of my husband and children. I've always loved creating things to make our home a warm and inviting haven for my family and friends. Being a military family, we have lived in many different locations and houses. We always found it an adventure to make each of those houses a home. As we approached our last move, I found it exciting to start a new chapter in our lives by opening the Hartley Rowe Etsy Shop.

The shop name, Hartley Rowe, is a tribute to both of my parents, Mary Jane Rowe and Jack Hartley. They were married in 1957, and raised their family in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. The shop listed its first items on July 8th, 2012, which would have been my father's 84th birthday. It was a way to honor the most creative soul I've ever known.

My father was a craftsman and a caretaker of our environment. He taught me to see beauty in things that others may consider castoffs. He could take a single piece of reclaimed lumber and turn it into a masterpiece. I think of him every time I go searching for that perfect piece of reclaimed lumber or salvaged material. I strive to help keep would-be treasures out of landfills by turning found materials into beautiful and useful items for my customers, friends and family.

I also love technology and photography and how they enable us to stay connected to one another. I’m constantly exploring new systems and applications; yes, I am a computer geek. I also feel we desperately need to hold on to yesterday. I believe it is important that my children have a sense of their parents' and grandparents' beginnings by preserving family documents, photographs, and heirlooms. I also love to visit flea markets and antique stores to add to our collection of all things vintage, and to find pieces that inspire me in designing creations for Hartley Rowe, creations that I hope become treasured pieces in your home.

Thank you for stopping by today. Please contact me if you have any questions about any of the products you see or want to discuss a custom order.
