About

We create unique original works of wearable art using the finest China silk

Hi, I'm Warren, the artist of Hartz Silk. I got interested in dying silk about 12 years ago. I am a self taught silk artist. I read books about silk painting, and experimented with dyes and resists and came up with some totally new designs, techniques and colors. I love the mountains and nature. That love is the inspiration for many of my designs. As an artist I have worked in various mediums. I love how silk takes the dyes and what brilliant rich colors I can achieve. Each item is individually hand dyed and steam set so the color will stay beautiful forever. Many of my scarves may have as many as 30 different colors in them. Silk dyes become part of the fabric and leave the silk luxuriously soft. Silk feels wonderful on your body and it is easy to care for. I want everyone to have the joy of wearing silk. HartzSilk offers ties, scarves, scrunchies, eye pillows, tank tops, shirts, wraps, silk paintings and silk art cards.

Shop policies

We take great pride in creating individually hand dyed silk items. We buy the nicest silk we can find and dye it, steam it to set the dyes and then dye set it again, so it is colorfast. It is preshrunk . Scarves and clothing are hand wash in cool water. A artistic hang tag is enclosed with each purchase so that you or your gift recipient know they are wearing an original work of art. Ties are dry clean only.
