WELCOME BACK FOLKS....WE ARE AGAIN TAKING ORDERS. There is still an extended queue and production time is still setting at 8-10 weeks. However, we feel that we have gotten back into a managable amount of existing orders. From this time on we will open at the first of each month and remain open for orders until we have reached our monthly threshold (30). At that point be it the first week or the last week we will close ordering again until the first of the next month. We are sorry to have to do this but we feel it is the only way to keep from dramatically raising our prices. We love you all and thank you for being a part of our Legendary Lil Grizz Hat Family!

5 out of 5 starsGreat quality hat all around. I added a liner and asked for an all black stampede string (I'm in windy country), to which they said no problem. Only took a day of wearing for the hat to shape to my head. I'm already looking at ordering another for my musical performance "look." Thanks guys.

5 out of 5 starsI love this hat! I’m fascinated by illustrations of vintage sportsmen, and see several of them wearing hats like mine. I had no idea where I could get one until I stumbled on Hats by Grizz. I’ve been wearing it pretty much non-stop since it arrived. I haven’t had it in a downpour yet—and don’t plan to use it in heavy rain—but I’m curious as to how it will hold up if it gets wet. But so far, the build and quality are excellent. I also sprung for a wider, gross grain band, because that’s what most of the hats in the vintage illustrations sported. My hat’s in “Sand” color.

Sizing details
How do I measure for a Lil Grizz custom built hat?
Using a cloth measuring tape (You can check your cloth tape against a carpenter's metal to be sure it is accurate but do not use a metal tape on your head as the metal tape will not give an accurate reading on your head.) Pull it snug but not tight. Measure the largest part of your head. Be sure to set the tape just above your ears/eyebrows where the brim of your hat will set. Read it to the nearest 1/8th of an inch. It is best to have a friend help you with this and to measure several times to be sure and get an accurate reading.

What if I want a hat style that I do not see here?
If you don't find the hat listed that you are looking for please contact us. We often copy hat styles in old photos or paintings for customers who want a specific look. Just be sure to get us a photo so we understand what you want. You can attach the photo to a custom request using the attachment button at the bottom of the form.

What if I want a flat brim with no pencil curl?
Our pencil curl is functional not decorative. It strengthens the brim. Since we do not use mechanized methods of hat making it is necessary because we do not stitch, wire, or bind the edge of the brim. Just as the soaring cathedral roofs of the medieval cathedrals were support by the flying buttresses, the pencil curl supports the brim of the hat to keep it from getting droopy.

How do I know what your color listing look like?
Because our shop it lit with florescent lighting and we use a digital camera, it is very hard to present a true color. But....here is a breakdown of the basic colors we list:

Bone - off-white
Grey - a light grey
Pecan- med brown (rich tone)
Sand - a light tan (may vary slightly from hat to hat)
Dirty Snow - almost white but with some color mottling
Olive Drab - a dark color with a hint of green
Dark Olive Drab - slightly darker than Olive Drab
