The idea for my shop began in the early days of January, 2012, as I worked on a set of knitted dishcloths for my mother's birthday. I had recently found that the homemade knitted dishcloths had a great superiority to the generic Big Box Store sampling from my own personal use, so I began to think of opening a store to offer these little domestic touches to other homes. There's something so much nicer about using a handmade article, much more cozy and homelike. I'm all about that.

From dishcloths I began to pursue other ideas, and the idea of sharing from my collection of vintage books came to mind. I keep those books on my shelves that are friends. Some books are better friends than others. The ones I feel I can part with I offer here. I'd much rather they go where they would be appreciated than put into a dustbin or get lost on a used bookstore shelf.

I have been working a lot on my other side-hobby, novel-writing, but as we enter 2013 I look forward to devoting my hobby time full time to this store, offering more ways for you to add a small domestic touch to your everyday.

By the way, the "Haus" in our title comes from the fact that my husband is German and also because I figured "house" was taken. ;)
