I Heart Horses

Growing up, I was a typical horse-mad kid and have been lucky enough to be blessed with my own heart horse. Joey and I grew up and old together, spending 28 wonderful years with each other. He was my best friend, my family, my keeper of secrets. But in the summer of 2019 I had to make the kindest, yet hardest decision to let him go. Despite the overwhelming sadness I still feel that he is no longer here, I have been left with a lifetime of memories and a great sense of pride and gratefulness. He is the reason why I called my business, Heart Horse and will always be my inspiration. <3

We currently have four horses that live at home with us on the outskirts of a rural English village in North Herefordshire. Thorin, the Shire, Argento the Friesian, Perri the Sec A and Gem the Miniature Shetland. Gem is my muse for the Hairytale cartoons and Tony the Pony as what he lacks in size he certainly makes up for in character!

Before Heart Horse, I was a web developer and have always had an interest in digital art having created and owned an equestrian browser game some years ago. But I never found time to sit down and learn how to sell my art commercially.
In 2013, I changed my job to full-time Mum. I now have two fabulous daughters and adore being a Mum, however, I did find myself missing the challenges of work. So I began brainstorming ideas where I could stay home and still be Mum, but also get my work fix.

In 2017, I started playing about with different horsey designs using Adobe Illustrator. It was incredibly daunting at first as I had to learn everything from scratch. Looking back my first few design attempts were terrible! It has been an incredibly steep learning curve as vector art is quite different to pixel art and Photoshop, which was all I had ever done before. But I persevered, drinking gallons of tea and watching countless hours of Youtube videos and practising for several months every night after the girls were in bed. And slowly I began to get a feel for it. I am now a tiny bit obsessed. I need vector therapy!

And so in March 2018, Heart Horse was born!
To expand my knowledge of Illustrator and practise my skills, I decided to revisit my old pixel art and turn them into vector images for use as equestrian stock imagery and ready-made designs, which I am currently still doing today. I recently started logo design and really enjoy creating them so hoping to expand this service in 2020. I have also found a great love in creating humourous cartoons and currently draw the Hairytales cartoon series featuring Tony the Pony. My end goal is to get my original designs onto cards, pictures, mugs and calendars to sell.
Hope you enjoy browsing my little vector sector.

Frequently asked questions
Do I own the copyright if I download one of your files?

No. A sale does not transfer copyright ownership, it is simply a license for use. Copyright remains with Heart Horse UK at all times and I kindly ask you do not claim the designs as your own.

Can I use your images for print on demand (Zazzle, Cafe Press, Merch by Amazon) etc?

Unfortunately, print on demand is not allowed.

Do I receive a hard copy of the digital art I purchase?

No hard copy will be shipped as you are purchasing the digital product only. Files will be available for download via the email sent to you from Etsy or in your Etsy account after purchase.

What can I use your designs for?

All my items will have the terms of use and license conditions in the description,
Majority of my designs are for personal and small business ONLY (max. 100 items).
Personal use includes private party invites, home decorations, crafts, scrap-booking, school projects etc.
Small business use includes advertising, marketing, business cards, postcards, greeting cards, calendars, book covers, printed stationery, jewellery, phone covers, bags, clothing and other accessories.

If you would like to use a design for print runs over 100 units, you will need to purchase Heart Horse UK's Extended License, which permits small business/commercial up to 1000 units. I do not permit any of my designs to be used for mass production (1000 + units).

What can I NOT use your designs for?

Runs over 100 units (unless the Extended License is bought).
Mass production through online retailers (Zazzle, Society6, Cafepress, Redbubble etc).
Collage sheets, digital papers, digital stickers, brushes, patterns etc.
Reselling as a digital download/clipart (individually or as part of a set) as a whole or in part of a new design, in any format.
Offering as a freebie.
Sharing with any other person(s).

Do you offer returns, refunds or exchanges?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of all my items being digital downloads, I am unable to offer returns, refunds or exchanges. I do meticulously check all files before being offered for sale, however, if there is a mistake with any file you have already downloaded, please contact me and I will happily rectify the problem and send you an updated version.

I have purchased one of your files, but it is not displaying correctly in my software, can you help?

Once a file has been downloaded, I unfortunately have no control over the knowledge level or software the customer is using. But I will try my best to help any customer who has a problem with a file purchased from Heart Horse.
I work and save in Adobe Illustrator and aware there are a few issues with other software programs that sometimes arise due to the save settings of Illustrator. Before you contact me, please ensure you check you are using the latest version of your software, as this can sometimes cause issues displaying files. If no luck, please provide me with a screenshot, what software you are using and which format is not displaying correctly. I will do all I can to help solve the issue.
