Announcement   *Please note before buying that I make these items in my spare time in addition to having a full-time job, so my work time for these is limited. Time for completion on custom orders will depend on how many orders I have going and when I can work on them. The time ranges listed on my ads are general estimates.

Welcome to the Hearthfire Nordic Wares shop on Etsy! I make Viking Age and later Nordic style items in leather, steel and other materials for reenactors, living historians or just general costuming and wear. I also make drinking horns in two sizes: Small (12 in.) and Large (24in.); the small horns hold about 11-15 oz. and the large horns hold around a liter.

I have historically worked primarily off of custom orders, but with working full time and having my shop at a separate location I am gearing more toward having items ready to ship when listed in order to avoid long wait times. I am still offering custom drinking horns, though, to make sure that you can get a personalized piece that will last for years. Feel free to browse through, and I hope you find something you like!

About

Roots and Branches

Hearthfire Nordic Wares is a small leather working and blacksmithing outfit based in Washington State. I do most of my business online or locally, and I aim to offer a mix of pre-made and custom items. I focus on Nordic & Viking Age styles with my work as it is part of my heritage and a main field of interest, but if requested I can work with other themes. However, I would recommend that if you want something of the style of an indigenous culture you actually buy from them. That being said, I will not take orders for designs with Native American, Mayan, Sámi or other cultures' themes whose work would be best represented by artisans from those cultures.

I have been doing leather work off and on for the last eight years or so, and got heavily into it within the last 5 or 6. I have also been blacksmithing for a little over three years and have had my own forge set up for a bit over a year.

Payment
Regarding payment/purchases, I am not generally in a position to pre-make items, so I mostly do custom orders.

In addition to purchases made through Etsy, I am also able to take multiple payments via invoice. The system for this method, or even single payment invoices, is as such:

In the case of multiple or single invoice payments, due to consumption of materials should the buyer cancel his/her order after construction of the item(s) has begun, no refund will be granted of payments already collected; the buyer will not be obliged to pay any more on the item after cancellation. Construction of item(s) will typically begin once half (1/2) of the total purchase price has been paid.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do not accept refunds on anything unless it can be proven that the item arrived in substantially damaged condition or was not as negotiated in the order.
