Words just can't describe ... the portrait is so beautiful! You are so very talented, a true gift; we will back for more as soon as we can. Heather showed me in process pictures so that I could comment if I wanted anything changed, but they were all perfect, as is the final portrait. And the little extra was such a great surprise. I highly recommend this artist! Thank you so much!!!

Realistic and Sensitive Colored Pencil Drawings

A few years ago, at the encouragement of my family, I set out to spend some time with my lifelong passion for art. My husband bought me the "big" set of colored pencils, and I began drawing dogs, egrets, cats, whatever I could get a photograph of, because animals will not sit still for a portrait.

Since that time, I have shown my work in galleries, entered contests, exhibited at outdoor shows, won awards, taught workshops, written tutorials. I continue to expand my artistic horizons, and hone my skills, and I'm grateful every day.

I use professional grade, oil-based pencils, with the highest industry standards for quality and light-fastness, on archival papers or boards. Portraits come matted and sealed in acid-free cellophane, shipped securely and insured. I guarantee my work.

There are several wildlife and charity causes that I support through my artwork, and I am privileged to do so.

My love for animals is expressed detail by detail in my colored pencil drawings, whether I am creating a commissioned portrait of someone's beloved dog, cat, bird or horse, or I am working from my own reference photos of nature's wildlife.

Shop policies

Last updated on November 24, 2012
Welcome to my Etsy shop! Please make yourself comfortable and take a few moments to look around. I create personal, artistic pet portraiture and wildlife art from photographs, working in oil-based pencil to lovingly render an image with softness and detail.

Giclee prints are reproductions of my original artwork, produced in high resolution on archival paper with specialized inks, guaranteed to last for decades. I always use acid-free materials and seal the prints in cellophane.

For portraits, as I strive for accuracy in the likeness, I suggest you provide a clear, detailed photograph as a reference, and perhaps additional photographs. I will submit an initial sketch for your approval, at which point you may make any suggestions for changes before the drawing is finalized. All portraits are made with acid-free materials, treated with fixative, and sealed in acid-free cellophane to preserve the work. Portraits should be matted before framing, to keep the surface of the paper off the framing glass. Feel free to contact me for matting and/or framing suggestions and tips.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
It is my desire to please my customers, so I send a preliminary sketch for your approval. This is the opportunity for suggestions or requests for alterations. After that point, as I will have made a significant investment in time and materials to complete the portrait, a refund on the deposit will not be available. I do guarantee your satisfaction with the finished product.
I require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time I accept your photos. From there, I submit a preliminary sketch for your approval, and then commence the detailed work. Only limited revisions are possible after the sketch is approved, because of the medium I use, but seldom have any been requested. When the portrait is complete, the remaining balance is due, plus shipping and insurance. Once final payment is received, I will ship the artwork within 48 hours. I accept Paypal and major credit cards. I am open to other payment terms by special arrangement. Your satisfaction with the artwork is guaranteed.
I ship by U.S.P.S. Priority Mail, insured for the purchase price. Shipping and insurance are generally about $10, depending on location and value of the artwork. Your portrait is sealed and wrapped securely, in a flat cardboard package.
