Announcement   Quick updates: First, dearest Eleanor has moved from the USA Heartland to Germany. We will contribute to collaborate, just have to navigate distance and time zones. Tissues have been needed.
Second, I will be at 2 shows in 2019: Midwest Weavers in June (Grinnell, Iowa) and Vogue Knitting Live, Columbus (Ohio) in November.
And last, I have a 2nd industrial machine. This one is SO not portable. Better lift height, quieter, close to magic. Photos (potentially) pending.

About

Everyday objects, sturdy like our prairie hedge trees, happily made.

Hedge trees are prairie strong. They survive our prairie wind, drought, hot summers and cold winters. Their trunks are used as corner posts for fences. Natural dyers use the wood shavings to produce yellow to green hues. The fruit (hedge apples) makes me smile.
Hedge Apple Textiles - like our prairie hedge trees - is determined to make well designed handcrafted items beginning with the highest quality materials we can find... Products made by hand and made by us.

  • Katherine

    Owner, Designer, Maker

Katherine likes bags. And textures. And making. When a heavy duty sewing machine arrived in the studio, she discovered she likes heavy duty materials. Like industrial felted wool, and seat belt strapping... And hammers and pliers.

  • Eleanor

    Designer

Eleanor wanted to learn to sew. She did so by making 16 stoles in one week. Eleanor is an over achiever. And Eleanor is a story teller. She paints with words and with mixed media securely applied to fabric.

Care instructions

The industrial felt is water resistant. It can be gently cleaned with soap and water applied judiciously. (Gently pat instead of rubbing to prevent pilling.) These bags are like the Velveteen Rabbit, some wear and stains show they are deservedly well loved.
