Heidi makes beautiful, handmade jewelry that perfectly blends attractive, natural materials with a unique aesthetic sensibility. I always love giving or getting her treasures. Fast ship, collaborative for custom pieces.

This is a great example of Heidi's talent as a jewelry designer. First, I love how easy this bracelet is to wear. You hardly feel it on your wrist. Secondly, the selection of stones and findings mixed together is beautifully balanced and creates a stunning piece without being over the top. It's quietly elegant. Thirdly, I love how I can mix it with all my other (mostly silver) bracelets. The Lapis blue is a nice shot of color. Heidi has a great sense of color, style and proportion and it shows in all of her pieces! A true California artist! I will definitely be purchasing more of her work❤️

This is my new favorite piece. The druzy blue stone adds a wonderful pop of color and texture to any outfit. So simple, yet so pretty. I also love that it is sterling silver.
Plain and simple, I appreciate exceptional beauty and design in art, in jewelry, in food, in life.
I come from a family of artists. Perhaps not at a professional level, but talented artists nonetheless. My mother was a musician (piano and violin) and my father painted beautiful Rosemaling designs (his Norwegian heritage) on any wooden surfaces available. One sister a painter of many mediums and another sister who could rival Martha Stewart on the home decor front. And me: photography (still enjoy) and jewelry making (absolutely love, passion found).
Santa Cruz, California is a mecca for artists of all types. I feel fortunate to have "landed" here after moving around the country. No, wasn't in an army family, just loved to experience new places, new people, new jobs. Working in the hospitality industry enabled me to do this. I managed restaurants and worked with catering teams for major hotels, most notable, the Hilton International that used to be in the Word Trade Center. Still get shivers.
Although growing up in New Jersey, California always called to me. And now it's been my home for over 25 years. The natural beauty of the Santa Cruz Monterey Bay area is unbelievable. It inspires me at every turn to create. Create anything and everything: joy, peace, food, jewelry, a business.
Heidi Nilsen Designs was created after making a few gemstone wrap bracelets for some surfer friends (my Amigas!) and I soon got flooded with requests. It's still not uncommon for someone to drop by my home studio to go through my materials and design a piece together (sometimes wine is involved, which makes it all the more fun).
Over the years my work has evolved. I particularly love to design pieces that include pearls, leather, and semi-precious gemstones such as tourmaline and moonstone. My handmade jewelry is still in keeping with a simple clean style with a little boho thrown in depending on the piece. A like variety and find beauty in a lot of styles, what can I say!
If you like my work, please favorite away! I'd so appreciate.
Many thanks for checking out Heidi Nilsen Designs.

When I'm not creating jewelry, I'm likely surfing, playing with my dog, doing yoga, or experimenting with a new recipe! Many thanks for your interest in my work. My goal is to make sure you are happy with every piece you buy! <3.
Assistant, Supportive Husband
Steve makes sure I have all the tools I need. A builder by trade, he designs & builds materials for my show displays and makes sure my wire cutters are always sharp. I'm very lucky indeed to have this man to give me the space to do what I love.
Auggie makes sure I get out of my chair once in a while to stretch, take a walk, and breathe. He helps keep things in perspective. This sweet but crazy puppy is also in charge of the treat jar in the studio...never lets it get too low.
My handmade jewelry is inspired by the natural beauty of the sea, forests, vineyards, and landscapes of California. I find beauty in simplicity and reflect that in my pieces. I try to include as many details as possible in each of my shop listings but if you need more specifics, please reach out to me.
All items in my shop are in stock unless otherwise noted. If you'd like customization to a piece, please let me know. I'll do whatever possible to make it happen.
Thanks again for visiting and please favorite my shop and items. I hope that you'll find something that you'll love to wear!
