About

For the Love of the Forest

Photographer Emily Lord, woodsman Darin Radatz and golden retriever Solstice live in a cabin in the woods of New England. We love to capture the beauty of nature's fleeting moments.

Emily is a photographer, sociologist, hiker, cat-lady-turned-dog-lover, conservation leader, feminist, knitter, and dabbler in other artistic endeavors as well. She has a blog called Hemlock Adventures where she documents life among the Northeast forest: http://thisemily.wordpress.com/. As a Maine gal living in New Hampshire, Emily misses the ocean but embraces the forest. She loves to eat extra-sharp cheddar cheese (the Vermont kind), travel, and nerdify the world.

Darin is a woodsman, dumpster diver, free spirit, gardener, woodworker, canoeist, and strongly believes in the phrase "Not all who wander are lost". He is a Midwest transplant that grew up in the suburbs of metro Detroit, took a trip to New England, and fell in love with the outdoor wonderland.

Solstice is a ball enthusiast, trail runner, track hunter, and big part of the family. He equally loves going for a long walk in the woods and going for a swim in Sunrise Lake.

Shipping Costs:
Our shipping costs might be slightly higher than some shops. There are a lot of factors that go into my S&H, including the prices of high-quality shipping materials, gas to & from the post office (We live in a rural area that is a half-hour drive from the post office), and time spent packaging your order(s) with care! Thanks for your understanding!
Additional policies and FAQs
Questions, Comments & Concerns:
All inquiries regarding wholesale, retail, or consignment options are welcomed!!
We can do custom sizes and quantities.

THE NATURE OF WOOD:
We dry our wood logs and slices before and after cutting, depending on the wood and the item being cut. This is to ensure that the wood will not crack significantly when cut. However, wood can change with temperature and humidity. It can warp and crack. It can even crack after being dried for a long time, depending on conditions. Please don't expose it to direct sunlight, keep it in plastic bags or sealed containers, or expose to high moisture.

International Orders:
We do not offer international shipping due.
