Announcement   new items coming soon! i'm currently harvesting medicinal herbs from our new home in the alaskan bush. tinctures are aging and will be available soon. keep an eye out, since i'll only be able to ship through september, and then the shop will close for the winter. <3

SHIPPING TIMES: are now 6-8 weeks for everything, as i am 60 miles from the nearest post office and will only access it about once a month. you may get things faster, but don't count on it! thanks for supporting a small hand crafting business in the wilds of alaska!

catamount provisions is the ambitious endeavor of one woman, her beloved blacksmith, and occasional friends on a primitive, sacred, sustainable homestead in the wilds of the alaskan interior. we wild craft herbal medicines, weave baskets from native plants, carve wands out of wood from treasured trees, bind books out of discarded materials, and lovingly decorate and re-purpose various parts of the animals that we harvest here on the homestead for subsistence. we are deeply committed to an intensely sustainable, respectful life and livelihood and do our best to share those values through this shop.

About

primitive sustainable homestead

i have a shop blog at www.feralforest.com where i share behind the scenes crafty beautiful foresty goodness. <3

my shop started as an outlet for random crafts and geek-out moments, and has evolved to meet more closely my dreams for my life. while i initially offered little critters made out of wire and simple books, i now offer herbal medicines that i wild craft from the forests, baskets made from respectfully harvested trees (for firewood or building), and adornment made from found and reclaimed items.

all the money that i make with this shop supports my growing homestead, where i (with my partner and like-minded friends) strive to live primitively and sustainably, treating the land as sacred. our buildings are rustic and hand made, our days full of simple and important tasks. we are surrounded by beauty and peace.

growing this homestead has been a long challenge, and thanks to your patronage, we now make our living solely from our shops and traditional skills classes taught locally. your purchases here help us establish our sustenance more firmly within these boreal woods so that we're using our time only for the most wonderful things. thank you so much for sharing in this dream come true.

Owner, Maker, I Do All The Things

i'm a stubborn idealist in the boreal forest of alaska with a feral homestead. i've got a wonderful crafty partner and two pups who keep me company while harvesting herbs and crafting the magics. it's a good life.

    Moral Support

jon is my honey, my love, my moral support, and occasional technical adviser when i'm about to lean a ladder against a tree to harvest a particularly nice branch for a magic wand.

Shop policies

Last updated on June 28, 2016
i like to make useful and beautiful things out of colorful, recycled, and found materials. i will re-purpose anything i can find - from roadkill animals to bits of bark, flowers and ferns, and some of the many waste stream items of civilization. i honor and thank every item i harvest, and offer them with love to folks who will put them to good use.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
i accept paypal and credit/debit, and will not ship your item until i've received confirmation of payment.

taxes - are included in the price.

cancellation - if you haven't received notification that your item has shipped, you can contact me to cancel for a full refund. custom orders may not be cancelled once production of the item has begun.
Shipping
i ship with the usps. if you require insurance or delivery confirmation, please let me know ahead of time and i will adjust the item's price accordingly.

i am only able to ship once a month during the warm season (may-september). our home is 60 miles by boat from the nearest post office, and so trips to town are rare. the shop will likely close during the winter to prevent hazardous winter travel.

my apologies to folks in some foreign countries - shipping prices have gone up as of early 2014, and because of the size of most of my items i'm unable to ship for less than $12. i encourage you to place an order with a friend or wait until you want multiple items to make the shipping cost more worthwhile.
Refunds and Exchanges
i haven't had any items go lost in the mail yet (fingers crossed), and hopefully never will. damage caused by the usps is not my responsibility, although depending on the item i may be able to fix it or create a new or similar item.

returns will be accepted as long as the item is still in its exact original condition. i will refund your payment as soon as i receive the item in good condition. return shipping cost is your responsibility.

returns/refunds are Not accepted on tinctures, oils, or salves, although if yours is somehow damaged/lost in the mail i will send you another.
Additional policies and FAQs
sustainable packaging: your package may arrive looking goofy. i re-use materials as much as possible, and while i will always do my best to pack your items Safely and Securely, i may re-use items to save on our shared cost and to prevent an overabundance of processed materials in the world. you're not likely to get shiny, clean, brand new packaging from my shop.

tincture, oil, and salve jars/bottles may be new or used. i will always re-use glass containers when i am able - and they will always be washed and sterilized for safe and healthy re-use. that said, you may see tiny amounts of adhesive on your bottle/jar from old labels. rest assured i make every effort to Completely clean and sanitize your container.

please feel free to get in touch with any questions, concerns, or compliments.
