Announcement   Hi there and welcome to my shop. After going to farmers' markets for 10 years and only seeing goat's milk soap at the stalls around me, I decided to give cold process soap a try, but with a twist. The Herd Supply Co. soaps feature milk from our flock of East Friesian and Dorset sheep. My dad and I hand milk the sheep every year after the lambs are born and use the milk in all of the soap recipes.

As of spring 2017, we now offer felted wool dryer balls, along with bulky weight and chunky weight yarn. All wool is from our flock of ladies in South Glastonbury. We shear the sheep every spring and have the un-dyed wool spun into roving and yarn. Shearing is a yearly event to cut their winter coats off so they don't overheat in the summer. No sheep are hurt in the process.

I keep my ingredients to a minimum and hope you enjoy the simplicity of the bars—none are too sweet, too smelly, or too manufactured.

Free shipping on orders over $75! Use the code FREESHIPNOLYE to redeem.

Updates

Over the next couple of weeks we will be unveiling our new packaging. The "slow show" is mostly due to way too much going on! Does that happen every fall? No matter how busy your schedule, we hope you enjoy the new design if only for a few seconds!
While I may look über excited for fresh sheep's milk for who knows how many bars of soap, this full gallon jug cracked the following day. So sad! But new recipes, herd supply is stampeding toward you!

About

Sheep's milk soap from my farm to your shower

Over the past ten years attending farmers' markets with Beckett Farms (https://beckettfarms.com/) in the central Connecticut area, I saw goat's milk soap EVERYWHERE. Was it a trend? Were people actually interested in supporting local farms with value added products like this? It wasn't a trend. Local soaps seem to be here to stay and I wanted to perpetuate our local farming community by making soap. The soaps help to pay for the hay, grain, and shearing of our flock of East Freisian x Dorset sheep.

Why sheep's milk? Well, we have sheep and not goats! My parents said my first word was "baa," since I spent more time with the sheep than children as a baby. Secondly, sheep's milk is higher in fat than goat's milk. While we might be reaching for the lower fat milk in the grocery store, the fat in soap is actually what leaves our skin feeling soft after a shower or bath.

My story? Herd Supply Co is has been a dream of mine since coming up with the idea in 2012 and seeing that idea through to production, packaging, and my online store. After moving to Boston in the fall of 2015, I now rely on my family to milk the sheep and am happy to still be supporting Beckett Farms in this way. The soaps are inspired by things I love--Connecticut, friends, tea, and traveling. In 2017, I added yarn and felted wool dryer balls to the mix. I hope you enjoy all of the sheep sourced home and body items the page offers. Please reach out with any questions! Etsy is the only app I get push notifications on, so I promise to write back ASAP!

Have an idea? Send it my way! I love brainstorming and trying new scent combinations and would love to incorporate customer ideas into the mix.
