Here and Now
Here and Now is a sustainable ceramics project in Kyiv, Ukraine. It’s imagined and led by Yuliya Makliuk ‒ a ceramicist and an environmentalist. This pottery is created with minimal environmental impact for people who love nature and seek balance in life. Join the journey towards ecofriendly creativity and living.
We are proud to be certified as Clean Green Ceramics studio.
Since starting my workshop in 2018, I design and produce alternative handmade ceramics inspired by nature. It's not uncommon for people to say this ceramicware is authentic and organic. A little 'Japandi' aka Japanese minimalism plus Scandinavian hygge, if you're into hip words. It is intuitive and earthly, while also convenient in everyday use. I'm proud to say everything here is made by hand and by heart, to let you enjoy the beauty of life’s small moments. Think of hearty family dinners, your very own time with a book or a wabi-sabi tea ceremony. If you are longing for beauty and connection, this ceramics may be just right for you.
As an ecologist, I also pay close attention to a product’s lifecycle: from clay extraction to energy use to packaging and shipping. I experiment a lot and constantly look for alternatives in order to minimize or offset environmental impacts at every stage. So that this crockery helps you live a more ecofriendly life. Here you’ll find reusable ceramic travel cups for your takeaways, vases from 100% recycled materials, and plates that celebrate local plants. Recently, a series of tableware made with collected wild clays and glazes have been added, too. 5% of every purchase goes to local nature preservation projects in an attempt to give back to the community and ecosystem. Follow #SustainableCeramicsPractice to find out more about research and practice in ecopottery.
