Hi, I'm Abdulrazak. Most people call me Abdo. My family calls me Aboudeh. And if you've ever received a job application from me, you might know me as Alex (long story, we'll get to it one day).
I was named after my grandfather, Razak Al-Ahmadi. He was a jeweler. By definition, that makes me a third-generation jeweler. But if we're being honest? I know embarrassingly little about the craft.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my dad's store, hearing stories about the legend that was Razak Al-Ahmadi. But I never thought I'd be here, following in his footsteps - because for most of my life, I ran in the opposite direction. And yet, here we are.
Jewelry at its core, is storytelling. Some stories are written in words - others are shaped, cast and worn. And if there's one thing I know about myself - it's that I need to tell stories. In any medium. So Hidden Depths was born. Not as a typical jewelry brand, but as a way for me to create.
I chose silver to start because it allows me to explore and experiment with different designs without limitations.
I don't believe in labels. Or boxing myself in. And I don't think you should either. We contain multitudes. You can be a filmmaker, a writer, a jewelry designer, a guy who changes his name on job applications just to see what happens. Life is short. Be all those things.
So to sum it up:
I'll be selling jewelry. I'll be telling stories. And I'll probably overshare existential thoughts along the way. If any of that speaks to you - whether it's a piece, a post, or a thought - thanks for being here. I'm figuring it out as I go, but for once I'm doing it my way and that feels right.
