Vivere uno stile di vita parsimonioso
Living a Thrifting Lifestyle
Abbiamo 3 cani: Queen Boudica, Queen Charlotte e Queen Isabella.
When I was a child in the 1970s I used to sit on the bed in my parent's bedroom and watch my mom dress for work. I thought she looked so smart in her blouses, pencil skirts and slingback heels. After she dressed we we'd move to the bathroom where I'd watch her apply her makeup. She was so good with a cat eye and when she put on her mascara she'd always complain that she didn't have any eyelashes (they were pretty stubby) but I thought she looked beautiful. My mom never felt attractive, which I believe is a terrible shame because it affected how she felt about her life so much. She never felt good enough.
My mom died of Alzheimer's Disease in 2013. I never got the chance to tell her how beautiful she was to me when I was growing up and how she impressed me every morning as she got ready for work. Finding these lovely vintage pieces often reminds me of that time and how much I loved her. Now I know how important it is to tell the people in our lives how we feel about them.
When we moved to New Mexico we knew it was the place for us. We lived in our camper at Elephant Butte Lake as camp hosts the first year, which cemented our decision to stay because of the beauty we woke up to everyday. After a year we moved to Truth or Consequences, the closest town to Elephant Butte.
After a few years there, which I loved, we bought our home in Deming. Deming was where we could afford to purchase our dream, a small house on a plot of land. Real Estate is so tight that we offered on the house sight unseen the day it came on the market! We were blessed that it was just what we wanted.
Our house sits smack in the middle of 2 acres and those 2 acres are full of treasures, While our house was built in 1950 the property has a much longer and storied history. Beautiful mesquite bushes, plants for foraging, antique car parts and barb wire, old metal box springs and fence gates, 100 year old fence posts, and the list goes on.
We have 3 dogs: Queen Boudica, Queen Charlotte and Queen Isabella. Every night, after I do my "chicken chores" caring for our 8 chickens, the dogs and I walk the property and look for new objects uncovered by the High Desert winds and weather. Right now I am very interested in the dried brush and plants. As winter comes on the foliage thins and all sorts of cool items are uncovered. Everyday is a new experience, right here on our own land. I see beauty everywhere, in the land, in the sky, in my dogs and chickens. I'm thrilled to share this with my Etsy shop and shoppers.
