I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase! I bought this beautiful vintage brooch as a gift for my mother. It arrived promptly and nicely packaged. She was very pleased! :) Would recommend this seller.

About

I have been interested in vintage jewellery, collectibles and handmade items for a long time. I like to share my unique quirky finds.

It all started when I was a student in Belfast in the 1990's. Every Wednesday our College had a half day finish, which happily coincided with the City's mid-week antique auctions. My dad would drive up and pick me up at College, and take me to the auctions. Everything was fast paced, the auctioneer would abbreviate the bids being counted up, it was like another language. We all got a card with a bidding number, which you hold up in the air to place a bid.
I still remember getting carried away with buying candles one week, I came home with a large box full of about 200 candles, and various candle holders.
There were various 'characters' too. A man who walked about with a tiny little dog in his coat's breast pocket, an artist called Markey who painted beautiful Irish scenes of sailboats and cottages, and a woman who bought nothing but mattresses, to sell from newspaper ads.
Gradually I got to know what I like, and it was mostly the glitter of Jewellery! I would buy job lots of costume Jewellery, then read through old catalogues, to teach myself more about the makers and styles.
No longer do we head to the City to search for treasures, but to country auctions, and to all the local charity shops around the country. I also became a student again, and learned to make Jewellery myself. Now I sell both new handmade, along with vintage items.
