Henry, we can't thank you enough for this beautiful piece of furniture! It is brilliantly constructed - put together in five minutes - and it is beautiful in our son's room. It was so impeccably packaged. It took me way longer to get it out of the packaging than to put it together, though I so appreciate the thought and care behind how it arrived to us. There was simply no way it could have been damaged. Thank you so much Henry. We look forward to having you make our son's bed, and maybe ours too if you are willing to make a queen size! Highest recommendation!

About

Preserving and enhancing natures beauty in meticulously handcrafted woodwork.

As a career and lifelong vocation woodworking started at an early age for me. Even prior to formal training, utilizing wood and visualizing a final creation came quite easily for me.

Growing up I was given the opportunity to contribute my labors and practical intuition towards the many projects undertaken by my parents, eking out an existence in the Boreal Forest of Central Alberta. Upon finishing High School in 1980 I immediately commenced my Apprenticeship in Cabinetmaking and finished this in 1984. This formal training was augmented with a Pattern-Making course, Carpentry course along with Timber-Framing/Boat-Building and Engineering classes over the years.

By nature I have always been fiercely independent and comprehending this personal trait it was inevitable then for me to initiate my vocation towards a personal business venture in 1984. This venture continues to this day and has become a mosaic created by years of contribution, dedication and continual learning within the diverse field we call woodworking. My Etsy shop is one facet of this mosaic enabling me to provide durable, functional and simple pieces to a broader client base.

All the items in my Etsy shop are hand made using very simple hand tools and basic power tools. Great labor in precision and finish go into each item thus creating a product which I confidently stand behind.

Hello and thank you for visiting my Etsy shop.

All the items in my shop are made by me using basic hand and only a few simple power woodworking tools. My items are not mass produced and each item takes time to make and finish. Once I have received your order and payment I start the process of creating your item. Unless it is a custom order, which takes a bit more time, each item will be completed within the time-frame denoted on your order confirmation receipt. This is the time it takes to create your item and does not include the time it takes to ship. I take every effort to finish your item ASAP. Items are sold on a first come first serve basis, which means that orders are completed in a chronological order from the time of purchase. I will not fast-track subsequent orders. At times when large volumes of orders have occurred I will put my shop on vacation in order to complete any outstanding orders in a timely manner. The time of expected shipping stated on your invoice is an approximation and is the latest that your item would be shipped. I will keep buyers notified if time-frame for completion becomes an issue.

Please note that wood is a natural product and there will be slight visual variations in color, grain and texture of your piece from the pictures posted in my shop. The design and construction will be identical to what is posted in my shop. All my items have been pre-assembled once to insure for proper fit and alignment of all pieces and fasteners. Please feel free to contact me if you are having any difficulty in assembling your item.

Please remember that I am only one person carefully fabricating, packing, shipping and emailing your orders and adequate time is needed in providing a high quality product.

All designs, images and content posted in my shop are proprietary property of Turn A New Leaf Inc, HighlandWood. and Henry Krieger and may not be reproduced or used in any way without written consent by me. Please ask prior to using any content or images.

Additional policies and FAQs
The finish I use on my furniture is a penetrating coat of natural beeswax, linseed oil, tung oil, carnauba wax mixture. This provides an appealing low gloss finish and gives basic protection for your item however it is NOT a fully waterproof finish. If your item gets wet it must be dried immediately with a dry cloth to remove all surface moisture. If moisture is allowed to remain for extended periods of time it will damage the surface of the wood. Clean any spills that occur on your item with a damp rag and dry immediately.

Once you have unpacked your item wipe down all surfaces with a clean DRY cloth. This is to remove any natural oil finish that may have migrated to the surface during shipping if the item has the natural oil finish or dust that may be present from shipping.

You can refurbish a dull or worn surface by applying a fresh coat of oil or wax. A NATURAL oil or polish is recommended since it will not leave residues, pigments or other harmful chemicals behind. Any Home Improvement or Paint store should be able to provide information and products that are easy to use and safe for children's furniture.
Make sure your item is clean before applying a new finish. A light sanding with fine sandpaper on all surface and edges is recommended before applying a fresh oil finish, this will remove any imperfections, rough spots and help the oil finish to properly penetrate into the wood..

To apply a natural oil finish simply soak a little oil into a soft cotton rag and rub it onto all surfaces of your item. Let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the oil to soak in then wipe off all excess oil and gently buff to create a satin finish. If you are using a commercial wax/polish follow their instructions carefully.
