Hippos Eating Alligators is an artist / family owned business. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to realize my dream of succeeding as full time working artist and everyday I am inspired by the wonders of fire and glass.
My Glass Art Jewelry is created using multiple layers of the highest quality materials and Dichroic Glass. Each piece is carefully cut and arranged, and then kiln fired to a toasty 1480 - 1500 degrees. They are all handmade, one of a kind jewelry pieces.
Photos just cannot capture the beauty of these pieces. The depth and color are far more beautiful in person.

I have been working with glass since 1999 when I fell in love with glass on my honeymoon in Costa Rica. I took my first glass class shortly after we returned... and pretty much, I have been working with glass ever since.
I am fortunate to have a lovely 1600sf studio space here on our 5 acre property in beautiful Dripping Springs, Texas (aka - The Gateway to the Hill Country). I have 6 kilns and lots of wonderful coldworking equipment to play with out in my studio. My favorite kilns are those little EvenHeat HotBoxes... I have 4 of them and they are so much fun to use! I can fill them about as fast as I can fire them and use them for the majority of my production work. I love that they are done so quickly... 4-5 hours from loading the shelf to opening the fired kiln. Waiting for larger kilns to cool down is not one of my strong points!
I did shows for many years before taking on a few large wholesale accounts which turned my glass work into a full time gig! The wholesale work has kept me too busy to take on any shows for the past decade... but, I do hope someday to get back into doing them! as I really enjoyed meeting the people buying my glass and getting to meet all the other wonderful artists out there.
In addition to glass I like to spend time with my husband and son. They make me laugh, support me on my many whimsical ideas and are the real joy of my life.
