I cannot say enough positive comments about my experience. I gave you a very hard project given the original picture quality and what you did was fantastic. You were able to view other pictures and captured Orana's eyes perfectly and the colors you put into the project were wonderful. I honestly could not be more please and absolutely adore looking at my sweet baby girl each day. The picture truly picked up her character - fantastic!!!!

I have been the proud owner of Hip Paw Hooray Pet Services here in Portland, Oregon for the last couple years. I started out doing just about everything, from overnights, visits, dog walking, poop removal, pet taxi, and can now add, custom made pet portraits to the list! Over the years, I have taken hundreds of photos of my furry clients. It was a matter of time that would combine my love of animals, photography, and painting. How's that for utilizing one's interests and skills? :) I studied both painting and photography at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle and decided to put my education to good use.

For custom made pet portraits: After your photo has been approved, along with size, colors, and other requests, I make an ad for you to bid on, and once you purchase, I will begin your portrait. Please keep in mind that if the resolution is low or the image is blurry, I will charge an extra 30% to 90% of the total cost of the portrait. It takes many hours using a high quality image but the time invested is nearly DOUBLED/TRIPLED when the quality of the image is bad or low quality. But normally, a portrait can take 2-3 weeks (depending on the complexity of the work), I will send you a digital proof for your approval. Keep in mind it takes another week or two to print, stretch, and then arrive at your place. *If you need a rush service/ delivery, I offer rush service/delivery for an extra charge.

If any changes need to be made, I will do them for free one time only. It is important you are specific as possible at this time. I want you to be happy so satisfaction is guaranteed! If there are any other additional edits, I charge a $60 per hour redesign fee with a minimum of one hour.

You may cancel your order at anytime, for any reason, during the designing stage, however, I will only refund you 50% if you paid full amount all at once. If you paid 50% of the total cost to start the portrait, you will not be refunded that amount. If your painting arrives damaged in any way, I will replace it for no charge to you or give you a 100% refund. I will not give a refund if there is nothing wrong with the item.

I except PayPal and payments can be sent to lisak [!at] hippawhooray.com

* IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT MONITORS: Please be aware that not only are there differences in Mac and PC monitors, there are differences in each monitor's calibration, make, and age. Some colors may appear muted or vivid on your monitor or the colors may appear darker or lighter. There really is no way to rectify that but to make sure you calibrate your monitor.

I use a PC to create my portraits so the colors will look darker and more vivid on my monitor compared to a Mac monitor. However, I do have capabilities in Photoshop to see how colors and tones appear on a Mac. When I produce your portrait, we will discuss how the colors appear to you so you know how it will look when it's finished. Colors may appear different in print.

Most of my clients so far use Macs so I easily work on a PC with a Mac monitor brain. :) They have all been happy with the final product, by the way. :D

FAQ's:

~~~~~~~~ How do I get a specialized painted portrait of my pet?
All submissions can be sent to me at lisak [!at] hippawhooray.com. Once your photo has been approved, we will discuss design, colors, and canvas choices. From there, I will make you your own Etsy ad to purchase. After purchase, I will begin your portrait!
~~~~~~~~ What format should my photo be in?

Photos should be sent to me in .jpeg or .tiff format. Sending the highest resolution,
(300 dpi or a file size of 1MB or bigger) quality photo works best. The better the image, the more detail I can see when I create your painting. If I can't use the photo due to the lack of resolution, I'll let you know before we start a project. It is a good idea to send me a more than one photo. Please check out my blog for image submission tips at: http://hippawhooray.blogspot.com/p/tips-for-submitting-photos.html

~~~~~~~~~ What if I only have a hard copy of a photo?
You can either scan it at a high resolution or you can mail it to me. Mail it with return postage and envelope and it will be returned. Please keep in mind that if the resolution is low or the image is blurry, I will charge an extra 30% to 90% of the total cost of the portrait. It takes many hours using a high quality image but the time invested is nearly DOUBLED or TRIPLED when the quality of the image is bad.
~~~~~~~ I would love a painting with both my pets but I don't have a good photo with both of them. Can you combine photos?

Normally, I reserve that for people with pets who just will not photograph together or for pets who are no longer with us. I strongly recommend trying to get a good high resolution photo with all pets. However, for whatever the reason, I will do but I will have to approve the photos first before beginning. Combining photos will have an extra fee of $20 to $60, depending on the complexity. Photos must be somewhat similar. For instance, I can't combine two photos if one is shot at eye level and another one is shot from above. Or if one dog is sleeping and another is jumping in the air. Photos should have a similar feel, action, and shot type. If you're not sure, send me your images and I'll let you know if I can work with them.

~~~~~~~ Can you paint humans too?
I can and have. I charge an extra $185 to paint a human, depending on on the complexity.
~~~~~~~ I can't decide which photo to use. Could you help me decide?

Absolutely! I can help figure out which one will work best for your painting.

~~~~~~~~ Can I choose a color?
Yes! You can choose some colors you'd like to see in the painting. How's that for custom made?! It's also ok if you're not sure and leave that up to me, which I recommend. :)
~~~~~~~ How long will it take to receive my portrait?

It could take 2 or 3 weeks for me to finish a painting, with a minimum of one week. It could take a total of 3 to 6 weeks to receive your portrait. However, I take orders as they are received and I'll be able to tell you an estimate before committing. If you need it sooner, there will be a $60 fee to bump your order ahead to the front.

~~~~~~~~ Will I get a proof of my painting?
Yes. I will send you a digital proof for your approval. If there is something you'd like to change, that will be your opportunity to let me know. This will be a free service. If after your free design tweeks you are still not satisfied, I charge a $60 per hour redesign fee, with a minimum of one hour. Keep in mind that making any redesigns will increase the time it takes to receive your painting, and can take up to 3 extra weeks depending on the complexity of the request. So, it is very important, if you want to make any changes when I send you your final proof, that you be as specific as possible.
~~~~~~~~ What if I'm not happy with my painting?

I offer satisfaction guaranteed and will be happy to rework your project till your painting is just right. (See above for design fee) You may cancel your painting any time during the design phase. However, I will only refund you 50% and your shipping to cover time and expenses. If you paid 50% of the total cost to start the portrait, you will not be refunded that amount. If your painting arrives damaged or flawed, I will replace your painting or refund your money 100%. I will not be able to replace or refund if there is nothing damaged or flawed.

~~~~~~~~ How do I get my painting?
If you are local, you can come and pick it up. If not, it will be shipped either USPS Priority or Fed Ex. If you need it sooner, then I would recommend next day delivery and paying the extra fees. Your painting will be shipped in a strong flat box with bubble wrap.
