About

I learned how to use a sewing machine in high school – and I hated it. The machine always jammed, threading it was a struggle, my stitches skipped – it was always a mess, and I finally gave up. I did many other things with my hands – knitting, embroidery, jewelry – but it always bothered me that I’d given up sewing.

I finally decided to give it another try. I bought an inexpensive machine and not only sewed, but read about sewing, and experimented along the way. I learned about thread tension and the importance of changing needles. I learned about fabrics and interfacing, zippers and buttonholes. I bought a better machine, and, along the way, I fell in love with sewing.

The art of sewing encompasses so many things – creative as well as practical. There’s the notions – all the colors of thread, zippers and fun metal hardware. And the fabric – so many wonderful fabrics to play with! I mainly use natural fabrics, such as cotton and linen, but I am open to anything if I like it enough.

I have a wonderful family, and a fulltime job, but I sew whenever I can. Tucked away in my sewing room, my supplies around me – I am happy, I am content. And selling has been a thrill, knowing that my creations have gone across the country and around the world. I am grateful for every wonderful buyer and every sale.

Thanks for visiting Hobbit bags. I am a longtime sewist and crafter, and have always felt that the best things are made by hand.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept Paypal and Direct Checkout through Etsy. Paypal will accept major credit cards even if you don't have a Paypal account. Direct Checkout securely accepts your major credit card through Etsy - I personally do not receive any of your credit card information.
Shipping
I ship USPS. Your item will be sent to you within 3 business days after payment is received. (I usually ship sooner than that, but I need a little cushion for the unexpected!) Because every country has varying customs rules, fees, and charges, I sadly can't be responsible for any additional fees once your item is shipped.

I ship Priority Mail for items over 16 ounces and First Class for items under 16.

I always include a receipt. If the item you are buying is for a gift, or if you prefer to not get a receipt, please let me know.
Refunds and Exchanges
If your bag is not everything you'd hoped it would be, please contact me before returning the item. I will refund the cost of the item once I have received it back as long as it's in the same condition as when it was shipped (not damaged, worn or with any smoke or other odors.) Refund requests must be received within 2 weeks after you have received the item. Shipping will not be refunded and buyers are responsible for the return postage costs.

If your item has been damaged in shipping, please contact me right away.

Please note, however, that custom orders are a special category. If I feel that I can resell the item, I will accept a return. If, however, I don't feel that I can resell it, I will not be able to issue a refund.

****PDF sewing patterns are non-returnable and non- refundable. All sales of PDF patterns are final.
