Perfect size for my needs. I have a bratty cat who cannot resist stealing my rings, this keeps them safe and accessible for when I want to wear them. (Earring pot from Etsy too, but I don't want to step on advertising toes.)

This bowl is perfect! The bottom allows it to sit without sliding, the polished wood is perfect for getting out the guitar picks! A perfect gift for my son. Great customer service! I would highly recommend. It is a beautiful bowl.

We love our new, handmade utensil holder! My husband and I both work/play in various artistries and appreciate quality, creative work. The shop owner reached out and was personal and helpful. I would purchase again from this shop!

Hand crafted bowls and vessels of the finest quality.
Wood is amazing stuff. It is strong, durable, and beautiful. The variety of textures, colors, and scents found in wood is remarkable. From a butcher block table to an antique porch rocker, wooden objects are warm, significant, and inviting. A well-made bowl, for example, will have a pleasing shape and will also feel well balanced when held. For many of us, using wooden things fosters a sense of connection to nature in an increasingly synthetic and technological world.
I grew up in central New England, a region where hardwood forests mixed with pine and hemlock. I roamed the woods as a boy, paid for college by clearing house lots and selling firewood, and then went on to study the ecology of forests and forest wildlife for most of the last 25 years. It's been a wonderful career.
Twenty years ago, I began assembling a wood shop so I could fill my home with well made furniture for my family. After a while I added a wood lathe. Over time, woodworking increasingly became a creative outlet for me and I now craft purely artistic pieces as often as utilitarian ones, and I head to the lathe more often than to any other tool.
I have made every piece offered here in artisan fashion. I primarily use locally harvested urban wood that was diseased, storm damaged, or in the path of development. I also occasionally purchase exotic wood from wood dealers. Under no circumstances do I use wood species listed as vulnerable or threatened by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, and I only purchase wood that is certified “sustainably harvested” by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Thank you for looking. I hope you like what you see here.
Owner, Award Winning Woodturning Artist
I normally work with wood from locally harvested urban trees, but I also work with wood species from other parts of Africa, North and South America due to their unique beauty and working qualities. I often turn green pieces –wood that still has most of its water moisture present- which produce delightful warps and bends that are not possible using dry wood. I also work with dry, stable wood and often mix various woods in one piece. Whether green or dry, rustic or elegant, I carefully select source pieces to maximize figure, grain pattern, and when appropriate, artistic natural defects.
