I was a little disappointed with the quality of this necklace and charm. For one thing, the engraving is barely legible. It just looks like scribble designs on the disc.Sadly,I will be returning it. it was not worth the money that it is sold for.

About

Home and WORK is Wherever I'm With You! : Homefront Metalworks

When my husband went Active Duty in the Army a few years ago, I left a full time job in education and moved halfway around the world to start a life renewed as a military spouse and mother of two. I loved being at home with my children but needed to find work with the skill set I have, preferably something I could take with me as we move every 3-4 years.

To my husband's credit, I was given the support and encouragement to start my own small home-based business: Homefront Metalworks. I drew from my background in jewelry design and metalsmithing and began...again...creating! It felt great to return to something I love to do so much:). I started working in metal at SCAD in 1996 and graduated with a BFA in Metals and Jewelry. Soon after, I worked for a design and production studio which featured pieces in many notable catalogs. I had been working and making custom pieces on and off for years, but focusing on it as my job again gave me the sense of balance, sentimental purpose, and financial contribution I was searching for in this new stage in my life.

I started this home business venture just a little over 2 years ago and it is all of YOU that have kept me going! Along the way I have been able to donate monies, pieces, or design work to charities such as the Fisher House, the New Jersey Chapter of the American Cancer Association, Horses for Heroes, Jersey Care Foundation ( a charity to benefit victims of superstore Sandy), the Joint Military Spouses Conference in Hawaii and various local organizations and events. ( If you ever are looking for a special item for your charity I am happy to discuss the opportunity with you.)

I have also been featured in Army Spouse Magazine, various blogs by military spouse friends/ business bloggers, and the Garden State Women in Business website. The Weather Channel recently added my "Proud Coast Guard Wife" Open Dog Tag Necklace to Their Alaska and Florida Pinterest boards! My work has been or is currently for sale in the following store locations: Boutiki- Honolulu, Hawaii, Lily Bay Studio and Bazaar- Savannah, GA, Magic Mirrors Boutique, San Antonio, TX, and My Sister's Jewelry Box, Lavalette, NJ.

Most recently, my shop has been included in the 2013 Holiday Guide for The Army Wife Network!

On a personal note, I wanted to take this opportunity to say THANKS for your interest, comments, reviews, broadcasting, AND previous purchases with Homefront Metalworks. I am blessed to have this skill to share with you all and truly get so much from this work through the stories you share with me about the reason or meaning behind requesting a certain piece. It gives me food for thought in the creation process and stays with me through the course of making your special piece! I appreciate your input and have continued to assess my designs and materials to ensure you are receiving a great product. Please know that when you buy a Homefront Metalworks piece you not only are buying something handmade in America by a trained artisan, but also showing support for a military spouse run business. All that AND a beautifully crafted sentimental piece of jewelry too!!!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read about the origins and progress of Homefront Metalworks- a business run from a home with heart ...by a Military Mom on the Move!!!!! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season ….full of all things merry, sparkly, and bright!

With gratitude,

Wendy Caldwell
