Ich fertige in meinem Heimstudio im Nordosten von Atlanta, Georgia, handgefertigte Keramik in kleinen Mengen. Mein mehrstufiger Prozess umfasst Schichten aus Unterglasur, Schlicker und handgeschnittene, originelle Papierdesigns. Ich liebe es, farbenfrohe, fröhliche und funktionale Keramik herzustellen!
Jedes Stück wird von mir auf einer Töpferscheibe gedreht. Sobald es seine Form beim Halten behält, kommt es zum Zuschneiden zurück auf die Scheibe und bei Bedarf wird ein gezogener Griff angebracht. In dieser Phase werden Schichten (und Schichten!) von Schlicker, Unterglasur und handgefertigten Papierresistmustern aufgetragen, und dann lässt man das Stück vollständig trocknen. Als nächstes wird es im Ofen gebrannt. Ich verwende ein Schleifkissen, um den Rand und den Griff zu glätten, bevor ich jedes Stück von Hand glasiere und es erneut gebrannt wird. Zum Schluss schleife und glätte ich die Basis, und das Stück ist fertig!
Ich liebe es, die endlosen Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen zu erkunden, die die Arbeit mit Töpferwaren bietet, und ich glaube, dass jedes fertige Stück etwas Besonderes ist, weil es einzigartig ist.

I create small batch, handmade pottery out of my home studio in northeast Atlanta, Georgia. My multi-step process includes layers of underglaze, slips and hand-cut, original paper designs. I love to create colorful, happy functional pottery!
Each piece is thrown by me on a potter’s wheel. Once it can retain its shape while being held, it goes back on the wheel for trimming and a pulled handle is attached if needed. Layers (and layers!) of slip, underglaze and handmade paper-resist patterns are used at this stage, and then the piece is allowed to completely dry. Next, it is bisque fired in the kiln. I use a sanding pad to smooth out the rim and handle before I glaze each piece by hand, and it is fired again. Finally, I sand and smooth the base, and the piece is complete!
I love exploring the endless possibilities and challenges that working with pottery offers, and I believe that each finished piece is special because it is one-of-a-kind.
