For the Love of Crochet

I am a wife, mother and homeschool teacher of 2 precious girls who are my biggest crochet supporters. They love items that I make and beg for me to make things for them.

I learned to crochet by my very special Gramma, who I was named after. I was probably around 8 when I first learned. My Gramma never stopped encouraging me to keep trying. She was always crocheting something for someone and everyone always loved getting her creations. She made everything from baby blankets to doilies. When she got older her hands would bother her and she couldn't crochet anymore and those of us who received her last works hold them very dear and special to us.

I used to love the doilies and always wanted to learn to crochet them. Everytime I tried to use the tiny crochet cotton though, it just seemed too difficult. Gramma would always say to put it aside for a little bit and then try again. So that is what I would do and one day, shortly after I was married, I was able to accomplish it.
I would then make special doilies for wedding showers and loved doing it so much.

I love crocheting. It is very relaxing for me. I love to see the finished product and the cool things that you can make with thread, yarn and a hook.

I am presently teaching my youngest little girl to crochet and some day hopefully she will pass on this skill to her daughter or someone close to her. But for the time being, she will be doing what I did for many years, practicing and making little things to give away.
