Announcement   Spring is finally here in beautiful BC. There is a lovely fresh dusting of snow on the North Shore mountains. It gets me in the mood to crochet baby items in an array of colors, although I prefer pastels in spring. I am currently obsessed with mint green and blush. I just love taking my newest project to the ocean and sitting on a bench crocheting away and enjoying the scenery. Nature is so inspiring and lovely. Currently, I am working on some custom orders, which I love so please feel free to message me with your specific requests. Follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to find out which craft fairs I will be at as well as current projects and maybe just a few cat pictures. Happy Spring everyone.

About

Can't stop this creative mind

I started HookedonCrochets several years ago as an outlet for my newly rediscovered love of crochet. I needed a place to showcase the wonderful things I was making; I mean you can only give away so many projects and I was on a role. Throughout the next few years I went through some pretty big life changes. I moved cities, broke up with a long term boyfriend, went back to school and found a new career that I love. Needless to say during that transition time, I had very little extra time and even less creative desire. My heart was broken and my mind had lost its creative centre. Eventually, my heart started to mend and I found myself dedicating the little free time I had to crochet. The project that really got the ball rolling was a blanket for my aunt and uncle, who graciously let me live with them rent free for 8 months while I complete the classroom portion of my education. as I crocheted, I could feel my heart get lighter and my mood improve, which in turn lead to more projects. After that, my brain just started turning with ideas. Sometimes I couldn't even sleep at night because I just lay there, imaging all the projects I wanted to make. Before I knew it, school was done and I started my new career as a respiratory therapist. I soon discovered that shift work as perfect for my creative brain. I worked 48 hours in five days, but then I had four or five days of freedom to crochet to my heart's content. This is when my store really began to take shape and I began to experiment with different fibers, patterns and new projects. I rediscovered a love for wearing scarves, thanks to my sister, and in turn, that love developed into making scarves. I also began to experiment with different creative outlets, such as the oh so adorable baby onesies that have begun to creep up in my store.

My next step in this creative business is to increase exposure with a booth in a farmers market this summer. If that goes well, I hope to participate in craft fairs in the winter as well. I still have trouble sleeping some nights because my mind is spinning with all the items I plan to create. There is just not enough time in the day. I also am starting to collect quite the yarn stash and just can't wait to start the next project or use the new color or fiber that I bought. All in all, I just don't think that I can ever stop creating; at the very least, I must use all the yarn that I buy, and since I can't stop buying yarn, it may be many years before I get through it all.

I have been crocheting since the tender age of 12. I stopped during high school and college, but while cleaning out my closet, I rediscovered my first project and have been unstoppable since. I work as a respiratory therapist in my day job
