Announcement   Celebrate Father's Day with my book, “A Time to Grow Up: A Daughter’s Grief Memoir.” Read about my relationship with my Dad—an ole cowboy who loved his wife, his children and the land. You can a.so read about him and my grandfather in “Let Me Tell You a Story.”

Climb up that spiral staircase to my shop, Larada's Reading Loft. Kick off your shoes and relax with one of my books.

Do you like memoirs? I have two. One is about my childhood in a rural southeastern Colorado town. The other is a grief memory about the loss of my parents.

HOW ABOUT WRITING YOUR OWN MEMOIR? I have a Memoir Workshop booklet that you can walk yourself through writing your personal stories or your families.

How about historical fiction? I have one that was a story I heard all my life and fictionalized.

How about nonfiction? Read the story of how my grandfather put our family ranch together during the depression when others were losing theirs.

Do you like unusual cookbooks? Look at my series of three cookbooks--I scanned in my mom's recipe cards, so you see her handwriting and stains from much use.

Here's my family legacy through memoirs, stories, poetry and cookbooks--come and visit!

About

Sharing my family legacy through memoirs, historical fiction, poetry, nonfiction and cookbooks from the Southwest

I retired from teaching in 2013, after my mom died. I knew that I wanted to publish a collection of poetry and essays I had written thirty plus years ago, so that became my focus. I dedicated myself to self-publishing that book and in 2014 my dream came true.

At 61, that changed my life! I had another book I had written about the same time and had buried it in a drawer for thirty years. In 2015 I self-published that.

In 2014 I created Volume 1 of the cookbook series for Christmas presents for my family, scanning in my mom's recipe cards. My family loved that gift and suggested I sell it also. I followed with Volume 2 in 2015 and Volume 3 in 2016.

My latest project is a grief memoir detailing my journey after the loss of my dad in 1996 and my mom in 2013.

I love my writing career--it feeds my heart and soul! I hope you find refreshment in my thoughts and words.
