  • The Studio, in an unusually clean state!

The Story of Horse Tender Studio

As a child, the most influential people in my life were my grandparents. Granny made all sorts of things: tatting, baked goods, flower arrangements, and so did Granddad: he worked on all sorts of projects, from fences and decks to r/c airplanes and computer programs. Granddad was also a voracious reader and while reading one of his old paperbacks, I found the name Horse Tender. It would be many, many years until I would decide to use that as my studio name - and when I did, it was as a remembrance of my Granddad, who I lost in 2004 and still miss terribly.

Over the years I've made many creative things: jewelry, paper goods, flower arrangements, dream catchers, model horses, and miniature tack for them. I learned tatting from my Granny and have done that as well. Also, I recently learned how to crochet a scarf and made a bunch of them for Christmas!

My one true passion though has always been horses. And so, model horses (and their related goodies) are my number one creative pursuit and one that I've decided to focus on. I may occasionally list other items here (I still have a ridiculous amount of supplies to make "other" things), but the main focus will be the horses.

Just about everything I make can be customized and if you have something in mind, I'd love to hear from you.

Welcome to Horse Tender Studio! I've long had a love affair with creating things. I take pride in creating eye-catching, one-of-a-kind pieces.

I am a perfectionist, but I have had to realize that when handcrafting items, they don't always end up perfect. I think that is the beauty of a true hand-crafted item. Even when I make several items with the same design, they are each original and not quite identical.

I hope you will find something you like, here in my Etsy shop!

Please Note: Slight shipping delays may happen in the winter or at other times when there is heavy rain in my area. I live on a minimum maintenance (dirt) road and am sometimes stuck at home after storms, until the road is clear or dry. If this happens, I will reach out and let you know. Items will be shipped out within three (3) business days of receiving payment, except for weather delays.
