It works ok, probably best on styrofoam, the knife fluxes in it's heat, it does not stay consistent which causes many issues while cutting the foam, which it could be a design flaw or purposely done I don't know which it does not help to have to wait some 10 mins for the next few second of a heat cycle to kick in to continue cutting again.

About

A Lasting Legacy

1987 - Tony Natal designed and built a unique foam cutting tool to make foam gliders for his young grandson. Rather than sawing through Styrofoam, he developed a tool that melted a thin clean slice through the foam. This amazing new tool eliminated the need for serrated and razor blades that left jagged and messy cuts.

1988 - Tony designed a foam cutting tool for his son, David Natal, to make lightweight scenery for clay animation sets.

1991 - David asked Tony to create a set of foam cutting tools for miniature terrain making that he could manufacture and market. The new company was given the name Hot Wire Foam Factory.

Today - Hot Wire Foam Factory is still owned and operated by David Natal and wife, Dottie. All of our tools are still proudly and carefully made by hand, here in the USA.

Hot Wire Foam Factory is a small, independently owned business that has been in operation for over 25 years. We are based on the coast of Central California.
