Creating Shiny Things since 2012

I started making mosaics in 2012, working on a summer project with my son. The Angry BIrd we created (which is not for sale but can be viewed on my website) started me on a path to create Shiny Things from Broken Glass and Other Things. So far I have worked with stained glass, sea glass, ceramic tile, china and a variety of glass beads.

One of the things I really, really try to do, is to re-use/re-purpose materials. There are enough things that get thrown into the landfills, if something can be used to create a thing of beauty then I feel I have made a small positive contribution to the world. In fact, I have a box devoted exclusively to broken things (it's called Things My Cats Have Broken) that can and will be used somewhere along the line.

I am in what I would consider the experimental phase of this endeavor. I enjoy finding new materials to work with, which means that techniques must also be researched and evaluated. Recently I acquired seed beads because I LOVE the added dimension that can be achieved by using them. We'll see how that goes.

I am particular about the pieces I create, and each one is rendered with care to create a lasting work of art. I am always looking to see what others have done and am amazed at the range of creativity I have found.

Please look around and let me know if you have questions or comments about my art, or would like to share your creations!

If you have an idea you would like created with Shiny Things, let me know! Commissions are welcome.

A fine art background and a desire to work with stained glass led me to try my hand at mosaics. Cats in the studio makes it interesting to work with glass, but I am enjoying experimenting with techniques and subject matter in this medium.
