About HouseofTerriers
-
Hearts and frogs for sale at Third Friday Art Walk at the Arkansas Innovation Hub.
-
Sometimes the terriers are sometimes outnumbered by pigs but luckily they sell quickly.
-
There are real terriers at the House of Terriers - Streeter and Minnie Pearl.
Like our (real) terriers Streeter and Minnie Pearl, we hope our ceramics make you smile.
In 2015 after seeing a friend’s post of beautiful hand-built ceramic pieces I decided to take classes at the Arkansas Arts Center’s Museum School. It was the first time I had touched clay since the ‘80s!
Minnie Pearl (left) and Streeter (right) were rescued in Shirley, Arkansas in 2010. Litter mates, we believe they are a rat terrier mix.
Named for my two terrors (not a typo!) - Streeter and Minnie Pearl - the House of Terriers offers one-of-a-kind handmade pottery that attempts to capture its namesakes’ complete love of the simple things.
These rescue dogs came into my life at different times, even though they are litter mates. At each time they rescued me more than I rescued them - a cliche but true nonetheless.
Streeter (left) and Minnie Pearl (right) on their favorite neighborhood watch perch at the actual house of terriers.
Tapping back into my creative side through ceramics also rescued me in many ways. The ability to leave all stress and worries at the studio door and focus solely on making something with one’s own hands can be reinvigorating.
I embrace simple shapes and designs and gravitate toward texture and color. All House of Terriers works are hand-built and almost all are high fired. The majority of the pieces are food safe but some may have be raku fired, low-fire, or with a particular glaze that shouldn’t be used with food.
Thank you for your interest in House of Terriers - Creative Ceramics.
