Huffy & Lamont is an autistic-owned shop selling handmade stim stones, miniatures, jewelry, and knives.

    RENEE HUFFINGTON:

My name is Renee Huffington and Lamont and I have been kindred spirits since the day he held up a plastic alphabet "M," and said "Em" very clearly. Then he turned the letter upside down and said, "Dubble Yew." He was eleven months old.

Both of us love letters and words, onomatopoeia and word play. We share many other personality traits. It shouldn't have been a surprise to me that when he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at age nine, that I might be autistic as well. Diagnosed really, really late in life at 51, Huffy (that's me) officially joined Lamont on the autism spectrum.

Like many autistics, Lamont and I love making things with our hands. It's therapy for us, calming anxiety, giving us something productive to look forward to, and giving us an avenue for our special interests. Like many people on the autism spectrum, we have difficulty finding the right job for our personalities and abilities (in the regular job market) and keeping it. Since we're better at communicating on paper (or computer) because it gives us time to process questions and our answers, we both do very well selling our wares online rather than finding employment at a typical job.

Our goal is to make quality goods that our customers love. We aim to have the best customer service possible because we love how it feels as a customer to be treated well. We want you to buy our products because you love them and because they are well-made rather than because we are autistic. If buying from someone on the spectrum makes you feel good AND you love our stuff, Huffy&Lamont is the shop for you!

    LOGAN LAMONT:

My name is Logan Lamont. I've always had an affinity for making things with my hands, which has really started to blossom over the year that I've been a knife maker. I was diagnosed with Asperger's in the summer of 2012, and it made a lot of the issues I had been having finally click. However, I still struggled with them up until a few years ago, but that's not to say I've been completely cured. Asperger's takes work and dedication to really push through, after all.

My knife making journey has been an interesting one. When I was ten, my uncle and I made a knife together. He did most of the work, but I learned a great deal from him. I tried to revisit the hobby in 2016, but I didn't get very far and gave up after a while. However, in April of 2017, I went out to my shop and decided to make a knife. I didn't care how good it looked, I was bored and wanted to make something. I made three knives or so, before acquiring my heat treating forge. After that, I continued to make knives, and got better and better at it. That's where I am now. If you like handmade knives at affordable prices, or if you like buying from people on the autism spectrum, look no further than Huffy&Lamont.

I accept returns on my items if you have a good reason to return them. Contact us if you have a problem and I'll get back to you.

Remember, if it's a Lamont, it won't let you down!

      Maker

I'm Renee. I am the maker of nature pendants, stim stones, miniature dollhouse-scale flower vases and flowers, along with other clay items in this shop. My special interests have always been miniatures and things I can leave my fingerprint on.

    • Logan Lamont

      Knifemaker/bladesmith

I'm Logan. I'm the metalworker of Huffy&Lamont. I take pride in my ability to shape steel and other metals. I also enjoy woodworking and sculpting. My main goal, however, is to make knives.
