I started the Hungarian Workshop in the summer of 2010. At first it was just a simple outdoor furniture company working with simple lumber making Adirondack chairs. Within a year, it grew big enough for local wineries and brewers to take notice. After a couple orders from Stone Brewing company, one of their managers introduced me to my first whiskey barrel. He asked if I had any interest in trying my chair design from one of their old barrels. As soon as I finished that chair I knew this could be the start of something big. I presented that first chair to see what the biggest brewery in sunny San Diego thought and sure enough they loved it. Immediately they placed an order for 10, then 20 and hundreds more as the years came. If you wondering, I did get to keep barrel chair #1. It is still on my deck holding up strong. My company now is getting close to its 1000th barrel chair. With the wide variety of furniture line, it's hard to believe how many wine and whiskey barrels we have up cycled already.
