About

My love of creating is ever evolving.

I've been creating art my entire life. I sold my first artwork in the 1980s as part of a juried art show. At that time I was working with ephemera collage, watercolor, and pen & ink, but playing with a variety of mediums which included encaustic, gold leaf, acrylic and brush painting.

Fast forward a number of years. Just before my son was born, I was deep into monoprint, experimenting with watercolor. Having a child was life changing in every way. My son is a very creative person but he is not fond of traditional kid art (like crayons, coloring and painting). So we evolved. We started with clay and 3D construction and then I began re-exploring glass with him.

In the past couple of years we've been glass fusing, felting and lamp working. Our latest work has been in beading, precious metal clay and wire wrapping. He's now wandering down the metal crafting path and I'm working deeper into PMC and beginning to learn more traditional metal jewelry crafting.

In 2010, I created HuntingDragons with him and my mother who has a long love of paper craft. The vision was to show my son that our beautiful creations could find new homes with people who would cherish them.

I've always loved old things. Ephemera and Antique/Vintage jewelry have been a long time passion. Collage was the medium which infused my passion into an art form. I'm also naturally drawn to gemstones, silver, stone and glass. It was an easy leap to blend vintage and beautiful beads to create art.

I still love monoprint, pen & ink and watercolor, and that mindset continues to infuse color and texture into my other work.

In 2010 I got my first dedicated workspace - My first studio. The centerpiece is a vintage boardroom table which I'd had in the garage for 10 years hoping it would find a home. It has turned out to be the ideal size for working on different projects simultaneously.

Together my son & I collaborate on designs and design separately. My Mother designs paper crafted tags out of ephemera. We all hunt for treasure where ever we go - and you will see many vintage pieces from our collections and travel also in our shop.

In our own ways, we are always evolving and learning.

Above all, we are:

Always Hunting Dragons.

Hello! Thanks for visiting Hunting Dragons :)

All of my designs and items in my store are from a smoke-free environment. I'm sensitive to this. Ephemera does have an old-paper scent and although I always try and avoid smoke laden pieces, I can not attest to the former environment of ephemera in the spark pack. All I can say is that it currently resides in a smoke free studio.

My Fine Silver Jewelry is created from Precious Metal Clay. This amazing material is composed of microscopic recycled silver particles, and a nontoxic binder. After firing the result is a solid piece of metal. Fine Silver is .999 (or 99%) Silver which means it has more silver than the Sterling standard of .925 (or 92.5%). My jewelry pieces often have a rustic organic edge to them to add a time-worn appeal. Fine Silver is also more tarnish resistant than sterling silver, so you will rarely have to polish your jewelry - especially if you wear it alot :)
