About

Work hard, stay humble.

Irina Dratva is a hat designer whose clients over the years included Coach, DKNY, Marc Jacobs and others. Reed Kracoff's pilot collection showcased headbands and hats hand-draped by Irina.
Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, Irina acquired passion for hats with her first trip to the UK more than twenty years ago. She soon achieved prominence in her native Ukraine, not only for her easy-to-wear hats and humorous backpacks, but also for her well cut, sensual and witty clothing. Always innovative and resourceful, she has worked with vintage and recycled materials, producing original accessories and prêt-à-porter, often creating wearable art rather than apparel. Her fashion shows were in high demand in both Ukraine and Russia.
It was Irina’s versatile experience that made her perfect for her work at Eugenia Kim Hats, where, starting at 2003, she was responsible for woven hats and hair accessories development. There Irina created unique pieces for celebrity clients and runway shows, as well as many bestselling hat styles for high end retailers like Barney’s and Bergdorf Goodman.
Since 2010, Irina’s has been successfully making custom made “dreams come true” hats for a grateful international clientele via IDHatShop on Etsy. As a freelance hat patternmaker, Irina has many ongoing collaborations with other American designers. Classic men’s caps designed and made by Irina are popular at the Kai D store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This summer, Irina’s work from the 1990’s was prominently featured in the exhibition “In Progress”, an impressive retrospective of Ukrainian Fashion in Kiev that occupied 36,000 square feet at Mystetskyi Arsenal. Four installations in the main hall of the exhibition showcased an array of Irina’s creative legacy in Ukraine, ranging from wearable art objects to flamboyant club wear.

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

To measure one's head size, put the measuring tape around your head slightly above eyebrows and ears, just where the hat suppose to hit. Try to keep the tape parallel to the floor while standing. Not too loose, not too tight. Feel free to give me measurements in centimeters or inches, no need to match it to any size chart.

Returns and refunds

Got your size wrong? - Ship your hat back to me for free size adjustment or even exchange.
Don't like what you got? - I stand by my product and I allow my customers to return a hat for a full refund*, even for custom orders. *Minus shipping charges and any extra material cost.
However, if your order is highly particular and can never be re-sold or worn by anyone else, I retain my right to decline the return/refund.

Care instructions

No Laundry - Dry Clean Only. Spot Clean. Soiled grosgrain can be easily cleaned with rubbing alcohol. Be careful with the bontex visor, you can brake it.

Stock Availablity

Every hat is made custom by me, from the beginning to the end. Sometimes when I design a new shape or try a new fabric, I make samples. They can be available for immediate shipping. A very few returns that happened over the years, due to the wrong sizes ordered, usually sells pretty quickly.
