Irina Dratva is a hat designer, pattern and sample maker, whose clients over the years included Coach, DKNY, Eugenia Kim, etc. Reed Kracoff's pilot collection in 2010 had hand-draped headbands and hats made by Irina. For New York Fashion Week in September 2019, Irina made hats for FIX&FAX menswear show by designer Katya Leonovich and assisted Stephen Jones on hats for Marc Jacobs SS2020 runway collection.
Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, educated as a theater costume designer, Irina acquired passion for hats more than twenty five years ago. She quickly become known in Ukraine for easy-to-wear original accessories and well-cut clothes. She was also an early adopter of the use of vintage and recycled materials, working in contemporary art rather than apparel. Her fashion shows were in high demand in Ukraine and Russia during the 1990s. Some survived pieces of Irina’s creative legacy, ranging from wearable art objects to flamboyant club wear, are being featured these days in exhibitions and art shows devoted to the history of Ukrainian Fashion, starting with “In Progress”, impressive 36 000 sq. ft. retrospective in Kiev in 2017.
Since 2010, Irina’s has been successfully making her grateful international clientele's headwear dreams come true via IDHatShop on Etsy. Kai D Utility store in Brooklyn is the only store currently selling hats designed and made by Irina.
“NOfashiON BY IRINA DRATVA” is a millinery collection, featuring fascinators, feathered headpieces, and flower hats for any occasion. Though these creations were inspired by the enthusiastic feedback to Irina’s older works, the hats are innovative and original, combining new materials and techniques with traditional millinery craftsmanship. www.nofashion.us
