About

nature made wearable

In July 2011, I began pressing the petals of Peruvian lilies. At the time, I thought, "Maybe I can create jewelry this way?" So, I sealed the lilies in a secure, lightweight material, and voila! Floral elegance in a wearable form. Since then, I have incorporated many types of flowers and leaves, even some herbs. I harvest most of my materials from plants in my Oakland garden and nearby areas. For three to four weeks, I press the plants in handmade wooden presses. Then, when fully dried, I seal the petals and leaves in a thin plastic, which makes the jewelry durable and light. All pieces are then hand-cut to ensure their integrity, and I use copper metal findings that complement natural tones. My goal is to preserve the brief, wondrous life of a plant, in a simple and stylish way that allows botanical sublimity to speak for itself. And to raise awareness about the magic of specific species, I label each flower with its common garden name.

I am inspired by the constantly blooming flowers and plants in the Bay Area. I am amazed by what I find outside my door, in abandoned parking lots, and between cracks in the sidewalk. My jewelry allows me to capture this beauty and preserve it.

Welcome to IMPRESSED by nature and thanks for your interest in hand-pressed flower petal and leaf jewelry!

In July 2011, I began pressing the petals of a bouquet of Peruvian lilies with the thought that I could create jewelry with them. By sealing them in a secure material, I was able to capture their beauty in a wearable form. Since then, I have branched out to include leaves from trees and even small plants, like herbs. I am especially inspired by what I find right outside my door, in abandoned parking lots, and between cracks in the sidewalk. My goal is to preserve the limited life of the natural materials in a wearable and simple form that allows the natural beauty to speak for itself.

All pieces are handmade with real flower petals and leaves, love, and care. Earrings and necklaces include a hand-stamped card with the plants' name. All pieces come in a stamped recycled paper envelope.
