Bringing words to life
It all started with the library. When Hafsah was sixteen back in 2010, her love for books led her to the local library's teen blog. Their 'review a book, get a book' program was something to look forward to every month. But once a month wasn't enough.
In September of 2010, she started a blog dedicated to reviewing YA fiction. Her blog grew quickly, and she now has a co-blogger to help with reviewing the many books that arrive on her doorstep.
Blogging about books gave her an outlet for her first love: designing. What started as inexpensive designs for her blogging friends soon became something more. She quickly found her niche in designing stunning websites for publishing professionals, from debut writers and startups to New York Times bestselling authors.
In Summer of 2015, Hafsah grabbed a pen and started doodling—there's just something magical about bringing words to life visually. It was supposed to be a creative outlet for her creative outlet of designing. Soon, one thing led to another, and colorful, lettered journals were born. Since then, we've been featured on BuzzFeed, Etsy, HuffPost Style, Brit+Co, and BookRiot.
Now, Hafsah letters quotes, curates colors, and puts together new pieces, while her mom (J), sews and trims stacks of paper, resulting in gorgeous journals and planners made just for you. Our materials are carefully procured to ensure they are made right here in the US. Hafsah's sisters help with packing and everything in between—making this a family affair in our Texas home-based studio.
We wouldn't have it any other way.

I was looking for a creative outlet from my creative outlet (of web designing), when I started lettering. One thing led to another, and now I letter quotes and put together color palettes for our shop. I also handle customer service!

Also known as the paper seamstress, J is Hafsah's mom. She sews every journal and planner and then trims each piece, resulting in a journal made for you. When she's not sewing/trimming, she can be found doing her work as a full-time mom of four.

When your order swoops in, Asma notes it down and gets it all ready. She seals your package with extra care, sticks on a label, and sends it out ASAP! When not packing orders, she can usually be found writing or dreaming up new candles.

Extra Assistance
Azraa is the youngest Faizal sister. Still in high school, she assists when things get extra busy, and is usually the one who wicks and labels your scrumptious candle!

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns, exchanges, and cancellations
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
- Custom or personalized orders
- Perishable products (like food or flowers)
- Digital downloads
- Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
If, for any reason, you are not satisfied, you can return your item in its original condition within 14 days of receipt for a full refund, less shipping. The customer must cover the cost of return shipping. If the item is returned damaged, a restocking fee will be charged and deducted from your refund.
Please contact us for return instructions.
If you receive an item that is damaged or defective, claims must be received within 48 hours of receipt. Upon further investigation, a replacement will be sent or a refund issued.

Shipping
Your purchase will be shipped to the address noted in your Etsy order. Please ensure you provide the correct address (especially international customers). IceyDesigns is not responsible for incorrectly entered addresses.
If the listed shipping address is incorrect and the package is returned, you will be contacted for an alternate address. Please be aware that you will be charged an additional fee for re-shipping.
Most US orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail in a sturdy mailer with tracking for your convenience. Expedited shipping options are available.
International orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail International. Shipping times vary, and can take between 2-5 weeks. Actual delivery time varies depending on your location and local customs. IceyDesigns is not responsible for purchases held in customs. You, the customer, will be responsible for any fees, taxes, and/or duties.

Can you make me a custom pencil set?
At this time, we are not taking on custom orders for pencil sets. If you have a suggestion for a future set, send us a convo and we'll add it to our list of considerations.
Gift wrapping and packaging
All our items come packaged for easy gift-giving, and we're happy to include a handwritten note with your order. Just make note of it at checkout!
