Announcement   PRODUCTION: 5-7 day delay. Headbands are in short supply right now. I've got a crazy, rambunctious, (and completely adorable!) toddler trying to climb the walls around here, but I'm pretty much on top of everything :)

Hand made hair clips, bow ties, and crochet accessories. This is my therapy, and I love it. It also keeps me from endlessly picking at my nails. What started out as something to occupy my idle fingers has turned into a love and passion for unique, handmade accessories.

About

I story about Idle Fingers, huh? Well.....

It all started back in 2007, shortly after our daughter was born. I was looking to make a few matching headbands for some outfits I had gotten her, but was so broke after buying diapers and food that all I could afford was ribbon. So I went for it. I kept one of those bows just to see how far I've come, and now I can't help but shake my head at it and wonder how I was ever that bad.

Crochet came more quickly to me. My mother-in-law showed me how to do a granny square in 2008, and from there I dived right in. I've even written a few patterns, which are available through Ravelry.

Today, I am still inspired by our daughter's outfits and needs when it comes to my bows and headbands. She's more interested in wearing them than helping me create them, but I know I've scored when she won't stop wearing it. She has single-handedly inspired my entire School Uniform collection, and I continue to add to it as I desire to give her more of a variety, and also a more sophisticated look as she gets older.

When our son came along in 2009, I couldn't allow the little missus to have all the fun with mommy's new creations, so I started making bow ties for him, and I have never looked back. Little boys in ties may be cute, but little boys in bow ties are just plain adorable.

In Fall of 2013, I began my Heirloom Collection. What is my Heirloom Collection? It's a special group of accessories that are mostly, or entirely hand sewn. These accessories are made to last a lifetime, not just a season or two. Every piece is sewn together, then sewn to the hair clips. Rather than use cotton or poly-coated thread, I use nylon, or kevlar thread, which are both very strong, but also limited in colors. In addition, all of these items will be one of a kind, or few of a kind, so you can rest assured that they will be truly unique pieces. Because of the added time it takes to make these accessories, the cost is a bit higher than other, similar looking items, but I feel confident in saying that you will not regret the added cost, and quality of work.

I love every minute of my time crafting. It's so fulfilling to know that I am helping someone else. It gives me such satisfaction knowing that, when that package comes in the mail and is excitedly opened, I just made someone's day. I helped them feel beautiful. I made their wedding a little more perfect. No matter what the occasion, no matter the purpose, each and every item is hand crafted. Almost all of the elements in each of my creations I make myself. From the early planning and experimenting stages, to the testing stages with our kids, and finally when a customer orders, and receives their item, every moment has purpose, passion, and reason. Most importantly, every moment has love.

And now, if you've made it this far, Congratulations! You've earned yourself an opportunity to save. So go back to my shop, pick out what you want, and use coupon code 10IDLEFINGERS to save 10% on your purchase!
