About

Images are doorways into our being - past - present - future - imagined - creative - emotional. Its all there when we open ourselves to it.

I was young, pretty young - when cameras got interesting to me. Then in college - I took everything offered in the Photography program within the Art department. I bought my first SLR at this time. This period was my first experience making prints. I Loved it. My first 6 years of creating images were all black and white. And like I shared elsewhere, I have not been without a camera since, and I have been printing since then.

I have my own complete digital darkroom, 2 printers currently, and mounting and finishing equipment - which I do myself. The digital darkroom includes an Adobe RGB capable and calibrated monitor. My software includes the monitor calibration ability and I produce my own printer - paper profiles for printing to the individual printers. The "printer profiles" make the image I see on screen more accurately produced in the print from the specific printer.

My current favorite method of displaying images is with frameless borderless lightweight dense gatorfoam 3/4" thick with nice, usually black edges that are both durable, scuff resistant, and really easy to hang, or to place on a shelf or table. I have these hanging in bathrooms, workplaces, homes, offices, waiting rooms, etc. They are very versatile. The Gloss print version has an added 2 mil ultra clear polyester overlam that gives more depth to the print and protects the image from many many things - thus extending the useful life of the finished piece. The Matte print version is treated with Premiere Print Shield 3x for a beautiful non reflective finish, somewhat less scuff resistant than the Gloss with overlam version.

I have had personally no sense of loss moving to these displays from framed with matting displays. Let me be clear, I appreciate frames and mattes, but they are less convenient, weigh considerably more, glass in them can break easily, and they cost a lot in materials and labor to do. In other words, I believe this frameless borderless display is both dramatic and more accessible in general.

Hello and welcome to my digital age artist booth! I was a producing American craftsman during the heyday of the American crafts movement. I believe Etsy will contribute to keeping the love of handmade objects - and American crafters - alive and making a living wage in America.

I have lived in a lot of interesting times and lovely places - and I usually take lots of pictures. In 1999 I embraced digital printing starting with the release of Lyson's archival inks for the Epson 3000 - the world's first accessible archival photo inkjet printer. Since then I have used Canon's iPF5000, Epson's 3880, and Canon's PixmaPro9000 MKII. I acquired my first Nikon film and slide scanner during this transformative time, and began digitizing my earlier collections.

My technical knowledge of photography came during the film and darkroom period. I studied photography in the Art department at my University where I majored in Psychology. I have never been without a camera since.

Returns and exchanges
My intention is to have a mutually satisfying transaction - you happy with the product I send you and me happy with the feedback I receive. If you are not satisfied please communicate with me within 7 days of receiving the product you purchased from me. I will provide a refund, partial refund or exchange as soon as these conditions are satisfied: 1) product returned to me in the same condition as sent to you, 2) return shipping is your responsibility and only the original cost of the item(s) is eligible for a refund, or 3) I receive information from you (photo most likely) supporting a partial refund is appropriate.

Color: I use a color calibrated monitor and profiles for my printers. Most people on the internet do not. This can create - usually small - differences in perceived colors or tones of an image on screen compared to actual print. Probably 99% of the time this is not an issue, but if the color values are critical to you - please let me know in advance of ordering so I may assist you in your decision process as to the suitability of an image's color tones.

If there is shipping damage, please notify the shipper and me as soon as you can. It is helpful to take snapshots of the package before opening, and of the damage to the contents.

I sell on eBay - 174 transactions with feedback at 100% positive. I want that here too!
Payment
I accept credit cards through direct checkout or PayPal. If you need any help with the checkout process, feel free to contact me.
Shipping
SHIPPING COSTS LISTED ARE FOR COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL USA ADDRESSES via USPS.

HAWAII, ALASKA AND MILITARY FORWARDING - AS WELL AS MANY OVERSEAS ADDRESSES MAY COST MORE THAN MY CHARGE. I WILL CONTACT YOU IF THAT OCCURS. See also next paragraph below

OVERSEAS SHIPPING COSTS ARE AN ESTIMATE. In most cases if you are outside of the USA, ****I prefer you request a shipping cost quote****. However if you do place an order and my shipping cost is reasonably close in my opinion to what I have listed, I will ship. If it is not "reasonably close" I will contact you with what I need and you can accept or decline.

For items "made to order" my intention is to have the item ready to ship within 7 days - and for prints only that will be easy. Mounted items usually need the whole week, and there is always a risk (small or not) of getting caught with more orders than inventory of mounts. I try to avoid this situation, but it is possible, and if it does of course I will let you know what time line can happen.
