This is a shop by Claire Ma, where you'll find original hand-drawn and painted art, as well as prints on high-quality, heavy cream cotton card stock for a watercolor paper look and feel.

Please note that all cards are BLANK inside. They have a white border and have an overhang when folded to allow for easier opening. There may be some slight variations in the image border from the product photos due to changes at my printing company.

All cards are drawn by Claire (that's me!) in watercolors and/or gouache and are printed on high quality, heavy-weight cream cotton card stock, and are professionally printed, scored, and folded. My cards are printed to look like art prints, so they can be framed.

I hope my handmade painted cards can remind you and the special people in your life of times when imagination could turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary one.

Claire is a wonderful artist and I was thrilled to have her commission a cover image for my academic book! She designed and painted a beautiful image, which creatively illustrates key themes from my book. I am very happy with the final product and appreciated her collaborative approach on the commission. She put a lot of thought and care into developing the piece so that it aligns with themes from the book. She was also very responsive to my questions and feedback. I had a great experience with this commission and strongly recommend Claire's work.

Imaginative painting, terrific use of colors! Claire presented the Arch in a different light, unusual and stunning! "Islands in the sky" is very imaginative. God's creation in wonderful colors!

The Story of Imagination Post

In 2015, I drew many doodles of encouragement on post-it notes and sent the pictures to my twin sister, who had just started medical school. Friends and family encouraged me to make those doodles available to more people, hence the opening of this shop!

Imagination Post is dedicated to fond childhood memories of reading, immersed in stories of both the imaginary and real world. The name of the shop is a tribute to my favorite childhood poem, The Lamplighter by Robert Louis Stevenson.

I hope my hand-drawn cards can remind you and the special people in your life of the moments when imagination could turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary one.

All of the designs are carefully painted by Claire, primarily with Windsor & Newton watercolors or Holbein gouache on Strathmore watercolor or Mixed Media paper, and professionally printed onto luxurious heavy-weight cream card stock. Cards are printed, scored, and folded by a digital printing company and each card is inspected for quality to be free of printing errors before they are packaged and shipped by Claire. The cards are meant to look very much like the original paintings and can be framed as art prints or mailed to another "kid at heart."

Claire Ma is a self-taught artist in the DC area. A proud nerd and Smith grad, she aspires to be a researcher-illustrator in equal degree. When not doing art, she is a PhD-trained political scientist in public health research.

Can you print a message in my card?

Unfortunately, I can no longer print personalized text on cards. Leather products are customizable where noted.

Reimbursements on shipping costs

I've tried my best to keep shipping costs accurate, but I will reimburse you for any redundant shipping costs that are calculated as a result of Etsy's algorithm. This usually occurs if you buy multiple single cards, so you may see a refund for part of the shipping costs!

Sizing details

Cards are A1 size (approximately 3.5” x 5” when folded). These are the size of regular Thank You, RSVP, or event reception cards.

Square cards: All cards are 5"x5" with an envelope measuring 5.25"x5.25"

I don’t sell wholesale at the moment, but for larger orders (20+ of the same card), please contact me directly.

Custom and personalized orders

I do a *very* limited number of 4”x6” painted original commissions. The process is largely off Etsy. If you are interested, please send me a message with your request and I’ll let you know if I can take it on!

Are envelopes included?

Yes! All cards are paired with a Kraft envelope.

Do you ever sell originals?

Yes! Once in a while I will post an original painting here on Etsy. All paintings are shipped in a basic frame to protect the art in transit.

I don’t see my Smith house! When will you add it?

I work on commission for the Smith houses. Commissions are hand-painted and then made into cards for Etsy (your name will be on the back of the cards as the alum commissioning the piece). Message me directly if interested in a commission of a Smith house!
